STATE SPELLING BEE

TRACK & FIELD STARTING

Get out your running shoes 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Track will be starting April 9th. Permission slips must be completed, signed and turned in to the office before you can practice.

SPRING PICTURE PACKETS

Spring pictures by Lifetouch were sent home with your students. If you wish to purchase them, please send in your money for the photos. If you do not wish to purchase them, please return the picture packet to school. Thank you.

YEARBOOK $15

Purchase your Big Lake Elementary Yearbook for $15 either online or at the school office. Only 100 copies available. They will be delivered in May. Order yours now.

BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING AND HOMEWORK CLUB IS OVER

Just a reminder to the families that had students in before school tutoring and after school tutoring or homework club. These activities have ended for this school year.

TEACHER REQUESTS

Teacher requests for the 2018/2019 school year will be available at the school office Monday, April 2, and are due Friday, April 13. Student class placement with a particular teacher will be considered only when the teacher request process is followed. These placements are made for educational reasons. We will do our best to accommodate your request, however, please understand that in all situations, the administration has the final authority to make placement decisions. Please be aware that staffing may change due to retirement/within school movement/and new hires.

BOUNDARY EXEMPTS DUE

If you live outside the school boundaries and attend Big Lake Elementary, you will need to complete a new Attendance Boundary Exemption Application for next school year. A new boundary exempt is required every year. The forms are online at www.matsuk12.us/ble on the right side under Site Shortcuts. Complete the form and email it to ble@matsuk12.us or print it and bring it to the office by April 30. Questions, call the office at 892.9700. Thank you.

LIBRARY CORNER

We've been learning about different artists in 3rd through 5th grades and doing Maker Spaces this week. We have a Vincent VanGogh center and a Monet center, as well as our STEM centers, origami, drawing, and puzzles.

Welcome to Kindergarten Night at Iditarod Elementary April 12 from 5:30-7PM. If you have a soon to be kindergartner or know someone who will, please let them know about Kindergarten Night.

NURSE RX

As the school year is coming to an end some of the students who are moving on to Middle School are now in need of vaccines. Please watch for documentation coming home with your child showing what vaccines are due.

MOVIE NIGHT, FRIDAY, APRIL 6

Movie night, Friday, April 6th. PTO will be showing FERDINAND, and the concession stand will be open for snacks. Permission slips with money are due Thursday, April 5th. Your student should have brought home a permission slip or pick one up from the office. See you at the movies! Pick up your students that are attending the movie at 5:30PM.

NEXT PTO MEETING

The next PTO meeting will be May 9 at 4PM. All parents and children are welcome.

BOX TOP COLLECTION

Our Last Box Top Collection of the year will be in May, please turn in your Box Tops at any time to be included in the contest! Thanks for supporting Big Lake Elementary with your Box Tops.

5th GRADE COFFEE & POPCORN

The coffee and popcorn 5th grade fundraisers for their Homer trip will end on April 20th. If you want to order coffee or popcorn, please contact the school at 892.9700.

4th GRADE PIZZA CARDS

Help our 4th grade students get to the Seward Sea Life Center. They are selling Papa Murphy cards to help fund this field trip. The cards cost $10 each and contain approximately $20 in savings.


Contact a 4th grade student, Mrs. Lovelace at 892-9726 or Miss Service at 892-9728 if you would like to buy a card.
