ATTENTION ~ Freshmen and Sophomores:
Freshmen and Sophomore Reading and Math Testing Begins Monday
Our Fall testing begins Monday in English and Math classrooms using the iReady platform. Students will be guided to log in through their Chromebooks and complete that testing to help us see which students require additional support in Math and Reading. This testing will take less than one class period (85 minutes) to complete for most students.
The testing results compare each student's abilities against where they ought to be at their grade level. Students reading or doing math at or above grade level will likely not need additional support in Reading or Math. For those that do, we have time built into the day (Resource) where we can give students the individualized instruction they need to achieve at grade level.
If a student's scores require additional support, they will be given that support primarily through the iReady platform typically within the Principles of Literacy course and/or Resource. iReady finds each student's strengths and growth areas, and it creates an automated learning path to bring each student to grade level. Other resources will be used as well including IXL and NoRedInk to ensure students are mastering skills.
Click here for more information about iReady.
Prior to testing, please encourage your student to...
A. Bring wired earbuds because parts of the testing are read to students. Wireless earbuds are OK.
B. Take the test seriously because the staff does. If a student scores low, they are pulled into Resource periods to improve their skills. So take your time, take the test seriously, and don't rush.
C. Get a good night's rest.
D. Don't worry about the easy or the hard. Some questions start out very easy; don't be offended. Other questions seem really hard; it's expected that students will get about half the questions wrong. The test is "self-leveling" which means each student's experience will be different. Getting a few wrong is a part of the experience; it's how iReady figures out each student's ability level.
E. Be respectful of others. Remain quiet, and bring work to do when the test is complete because other students may need more time.
Thank you for your support in this process.

We are bringing back Warrior Way Shout Outs!!
Have someone at NOSD you would like to recognize? Take a moment to complete the short form and they will be recognized on our Warrior Way Wednesday shout-outs.
BREAKFAST & LUNCHES ARE AGAIN FREE!
PLEASE NOTE:
In order for it to be a reimbursable (free) meal the students must take at least 3 of the 5 components offered each day. If they are unsure of what those components are they are encouraged to ask any of the cafeteria staff.
2021-2022 Learning Platform and Health Protocols
Hello NOSD Families,
We hope each of you are having a great summer and enjoying the warm weather! The success of last school year and the opportunity to provide in-person learning 5 days a week was the result of our students, families, and staff working together to make it a great year. We are very grateful and proud of how this was navigated and all the support and teamwork that was demonstrated throughout the year. As we look ahead to the upcoming school year, our theme is centered around “One Ozaukee” focused on respect for all and moving forward to make it a great 2021-2022 school year. Below you will find a link to our 2021-2022 Learning Platform and Health Protocols. Thank you for your outstanding support and we look forward to welcoming back our students on September 1st!
