No preschool Friday, February 12!
February 8-12
This week is all about boxes.... and Valentine's day! We will brainstorm some ways we can use boxes, then use boxes to make our Valentine's day mail box!
We will read:
- Thank You Bear by Greg Foley
- Pete the Cat Valentine's Day is Cool by Kimberly and James Dean
- One Zillion Valentines by Frank Modell
- Love, Splat by Rob Scotton
- Happy Valentine's Day, Mouse by Laura Numeroff
Our vote questions (one per day) will be:
- What color do you like better? (Pink or Purple)
- What do you like better? (Conversation heart or Chocolates)
- Do you like roses or tulips better?
- Have you ever given anyone a valentine before?
Language Group February 8-12
We will follow directions by giving a heart to a named peer and then placing our name card into a container. We will practice saying words that begin with the /k/ sound and the /g/ sound. We will practice the nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty".
Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall;
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses
and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
CONFERENCES ARE THIS WEEK!!!
Thanks for signing up for a home visit or conference! I look forward to talking with you all very soon!

Health Screenings
We will be performing Health screenings on Preschool students for Height, Weight, Dental and Hearing on February 17th (AM class) and February 24th (PM class).
You have a right to refuse the screening by sending a request in writing to your child’s teacher on or before the screening date(s) as well as provide proof that a similar screening has been conducted within the last 6 months.
Tuition and Taxes...
Dear Parents: Thank you for taking care of your child’s tuition each month! For those of you preparing to file taxes, our Federal EIN# is 47-6005159. Just a reminder, you can print your own year-end statement from the Tuition Express website (www.tuitionexpress.com). You all received a personal ID at the start of the year to set up your child’s account. Please let me know if you have questions, forgot your child’s Tuition Express ID, or are having difficulty with the website. Thanks! Kristy Feden, Supervisor of Early Childhood (kfeden@paplv.org)
Kindergarten!
Dear Parents: If you have a child who is old enough to attend Kindergarten this next year (they need to be 5 on or before July 31), you will need to complete online enrollment for Kindergarten. Please feel free to do this as soon as possible, as that will allow the District to begin to get a count of the children who will be in Kindergarten in the Fall.
How Do You Enroll?
· All students must be enrolled online.
· Please go to www.plcschools.org
· Click on “Parents” at top right
· On Left side, click on “Enrolling in PLC Schools”
· Then follow Online Enrollment instructions
Kindergarten Round Up Dates will be available after we return from Break. You will be asked to provide current proof of residency at Round Up. Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions! Have a restful break and enjoy your family!

Special Attendance...
Dear Parents: We are quickly approaching the end of our first Semester of preschool! If you have a child who will be transitioning to Kindergarten and you are considering any attendance options other than your child’s neighborhood school, it is important that you learn about transfer options. There are specific deadlines for applying for special attendance, and I wanted to share a resource with you, should you desire more information. Go to our District website (www.plcschools.org) and click on the “Parents” button at the top of the screen. Next, click on “Changing a Child’s School or District” on the left-hand side of the screen. You will now see all of the information regarding transfer options. Please note: the preschool team is not involved in the special attendance process. You will need to contact Central Office as indicated on the website should you have further questions. We simply want to make you aware of the deadlines that will quickly approach after we return from Winter Break and provide the website information should you have an interest in this topic.
I hope you and your family have a restful and relaxing Winter Break! We look forward to seeing our preschoolers in 2016! As always, please feel free to contact me with questions regarding early childhood. Sincerely, Kristy Feden, Supervisor of Early Childhood (kfeden@paplv.org/402-514-3242)
