New Fire Drill Evacuation Route

Hey Parents,

We are preparing for our first fire drill of the school year. Until our construction project is complete and we have adequate space in the back of the school we are walking with students to the church parking lot at 4617 Patriot Ridge for evacuation (see map below).

If you have any questions about the evacuation route or procedures please email Principal Fry at mfry@providencehall.com

Carpool Best Practices

Hey Families,

Please remember the following to help make carpool as smooth and safe as possible:

AM Drop-off

- we open the gate to let students in at 7:15 am. We ask that you do not leave students at the gate unattended before then, as there will not be anyone there to supervise them before 7:15.

- the crosswalk from Lane 2 is manned from 7:30 to approx 7:55am. If you are dropping your student off before 7:30 or after 7:55 we recommend you use Lane 1.

General

- please help us model safe behavior by only using sidewalks and crosswalks when walking to and from school.

- please do not block crosswalks with your car.

- please be alert and attentive and pull forward when you can so that you do not hold up traffic

- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE drive slowly and carefully and be super defensive. We have 890 beautiful, precious children and I can't stand the thought of losing any of them and I know you can't either. Thank you so much. If you witness any driver acting unsafely please contact me mfry@providencehall.com or Officer Ron Rice at rrice@providencehall.com.

When are Dress Down Days?

Remember that while the JH and HS might have regularly scheduled dress down days, the Elementary School has them on special occasions only. Those include assembly days but may also include other days, which will be announced in advance (you will usually get a message in Skyward or see something on social media or in the newsletter).

Of course, teachers can use dress down for their own class as incentive, and the teachers will communicate that with their students and families directly.

For more information about dress code download this informational sheet (below).

Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the

one you can influence the most.

We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair® and experience a celebration of reading that

provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to

read every day so they can lead better lives.

Reading is vital to every child’s success, and raising kids as readers means getting involved

while they’re young. Now is the time. Since there will never be a substitute for a parent’s direct

involvement in his/her child’s education, please make plans to visit our Book Fair. Hope to see

you there!

Book Fair Dates: September 12th-15th

Shopping Hours: Mon-Wed 3-5pm, Thursday 1:30-8pm

If you are interested in volunteering please email Principal Fry at mfry@providencehall.com

New State Law Takes Effect

Hey Parents of girls in grades 1-5, starting this school per a new state law, all girls bathrooms (Kinder restrooms excluded) will have machines stocked with feminine hygiene products. We have already had a few girls ask us what they are for. My answer is usually something like "those machines have something some girls need but you may not need. You might ask your mom for more information about that". I won't delve any deeper into that topic but remember that we offer free maturation information for 5th grade girls at an evening assembly in the spring (there is a separate maturation meeting for boys as well).
