SEL News from the desk of Amy Argubright
Hello! Each week, the SEL newsletter focuses on a different SEL competency and includes valuable resources and activities that you can use to promote well-being at home or in the classroom. This week's topic is Self-Awareness and accurate self-perceptions. I am happy to be here to support the students, staff, and families of CMS! Have a great week!

Central Middle School
We are working through this new Central. Please speak with your students and let the school know if we need to be made aware of anything. It takes a village!
September is Suicide Prevention Month
Suicidal thoughts, much like mental health conditions, can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. Suicidal thoughts, although common, should not be considered normal and often indicate more serious issues.
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness on this stigmatized and often taboo topic. In addition to shifting public perception, we use this month to spread hope and vital information to people affected by suicide. The goal is to ensure that individuals, friends, and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.
Warning Signs
Aggressive behavior
Withdrawal from friends, family, and community
Dramatic mood swings
Impulsive or reckless behavior
If you or someone you know is in an emergency, call The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
**Please note: There will be no more schedule changes unless the student has 2 of the same classes, missing a class, or approved by Mrs. Mendoza.
Teen Truth visits Central Middle School
Friday we had a special guest speaker from TEEN TRUTH, Jared Scott, he has a passion for working with students and believes that we can all find our voice.
Since its inception, TEEN TRUTH has touched over 11 million students and has a footprint in over 7,000 schools. Our students experienced dynamic presentations on creating a positive school culture and what it takes to change your environment for the better. Ask your student what they thought about this special assembly!
