Focusing the Geometry Content in Integrated Math 1 and 2

PD for Integrated Math I and II Teachers and Others

The Office of Teaching and Learning is pleased to offer professional development for teachers of Integrated Math 1 and 2 and others interested in learning more about the geometry content of these courses. This includes special education and ESL teachers.

The emphasis will be on best practices for teaching geometry standards in engaging and meaningful ways, using rich tasks, and exploring the changes to Ohio's Learning Standards. Participants will receive a daily stipend of $125 and free resources (see below) they can use in their classroom right away. Graduate credit is also available!

Facilitators include Dr. Raj Shah (Math Plus Academy), Dr. Bradford Findell (The Ohio State University and ODE Model Curriculum Team), Jonily Zupancic (Minds on Math), and Rachael Gorsuch (Ohio University / Columbus Academy).

Participants will receive:

  • A classroom set (30) of geometric construction kits
  • Geometry reference guides
  • Patty paper and book
  • Visible Learning for mathematics book
  • Tracing paper
  • Graph paper
  • Professional compass
  • Mugs and notebooks

And more!

Weekly drawings include:

  • X-Y coordinate grid set (30) - 1 per week
  • Marker board classroom set (30) - 2 per week

Graduate credit (up to 3 hours) can be purchased for $164 per semester hour.

Participants will choose from two series of dates as shown below:

Cohort 1: 11/10/18, 12/8/18, 1/19/19 - 8:30am - 3:30pm

Cohort 2: 11/17/18, 12/15/18, 2/9/19 - 8:30am - 3:30pm

Integrated Math 1 and 2 will be covered each day.
