Mrs. Kennedy's Friday Letter

Jan. 8, 2016

Thank You

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break with friends and family. I did want to thank you for all my wonderful Christmas Gifts. You were all so thoughtful and generous. I enjoyed good shopping, coffee, and smells along with many other wonderful things. It's pretty good when your big decisions are where to get your coffee, which mug to use, and where to go shopping:) But, I do have to say that my favorite gift was my grandson Gideon!!! Shannon and Daniel brought him home from Korea a few days before Christmas. We were excited when he was able to come to visit us at school this week:) Thank you so much for all your prayers.

Classroom Happenings

The kids have done a great job jumping right back in to learning! We enjoyed reading and discussing the chapter book Wagon Wheels. We also reviewed synonyms, similies, and suffixes.

Be sure to check out their New Years Resolutions and "I have a dream" writings that are on display in the hall - so cute!

In Math we are finishing up our unit on Measurement with Mass and Volume. We will be doing our Mid Year Assessment next week and may begin Rounding to the nearest Ten and Hundred.

They are doing a great job looking up verses in the Bible. Many of them actually read Joshua 1 and 2 independently in the classroom!!! I have challenged them to get in the habit of reading their Bibles, especially since they are all becoming such independent readers. A highlight of the week was acting out the story of Joshua, Rahab, and the Spies.

Homework Next Week-

Spelling - This list is pretty challenging so I have highlighted the pattern words they will be tested on (along with the 12 Memory Words). I also starred 2 words that will be bonus challenge words.
