We love our Cool Cats! #hartmanpride
Cool Cat Nation,
We had a wonderful Wylie Way Day of Happiness on Wednesday. Students learned about respect (kuleana), rights and responsibilities and spreading happiness! Students explored what having happiness looks like through many meaningful activities. Please take a few minutes to talk to your Cool Cat about what he/she learned!
We are excited to have our Blue Ribbon Celebration at 10 am on October 20th at First Baptist Church in Wylie! All parents and family members are welcome to attend. You are also welcome to walk with your student in the parade at 1:00pm.

Attendance!
We are so excited to welcome our Cool Cats each morning to school! A huge part of their success is coming to school each day on time and ready for learning! We thank you for establishing a regular bedtime routine as well as a morning routine and bringing them on time each day! When students miss school, they feel less connected to the day upon their return, and struggle to make-up the lost time. So much more is experienced during the day than completing a few assignments – teacher to student interactions and peer cooperative learning enhance the learning! This is why we celebrate when classes have 100% perfect attendance! Each day teachers post a sign that states if their class has had perfect attendance for the day, and every three weeks we celebrate with the classes who have had 100% attendance. This week Mrs. Goodman and Mrs. Klingbeil’s homeroom classes enjoyed popsicle treats at recess! I hope we have many more classes join them in our next three week celebration!
Reminders:
Late arrival affects learning - school begins at 7:30
Early leave affects learning – school ends at 2:40.
Please make doctor appointments after 9:00am.

Calling 3rd and 4th Grade Students!
SMARTKids will be hosting their third annual club this school year. SMARTkids is focused on getting elementary students in 3rd and 4th grade interested and staying interested in Science and Math. They use hands-on STEM activities and try to introduce the students to problem solving and design skills.
SMARTKids is led by junior high and high school students who have either been through the SMARTgirls/GEARSforGUYS programs are academically interested in STEM. SMARTkids do as much of their work on their own or as a team, but do have the leader students there to engage and help when needed. The hope is that they will get engaged and gain confidence to take the higher math and sciences in high school and college.
SMARTkids offers evening activities 6 times a year at each of our Wylie ISD Intermediate schools which allows our students to get to know the campuses they will attend in 5th grade.
