?! Riddle of the Week ?!
Sleep well, think well
- The brain is in a constant state of tension between the cells and chemicals that try to put you to sleep and cells and chemicals that try to keep you awake.
- The neurons of your brain show vigorous rhythmical activity when you're asleep- perhaps replaying what you learned that day.
- People vary in how much sleep they need and when they prefer to get it, but the biological drive for an afternoon nap is universal.
- Loss of sleep hurts attention, executive function, working memory, mood, quantitative skills, logical reasoning, and even motor dexterity.

Students may use their tickets to purchase items and attend a reward activity every 6 weeks.

Braveheart of the Week #Superhero #ThePowerofOne
Braveheart Award for this week goes to..... Ms. Canell
Thank you Ms. Canell for everything that you do. Ms. Canell is a first year teacher, but you would never know that by watching her actions with students and seeing her preparation for instruction. She arrives early for work everyday. She spends countless hours planning, researching, and analyzing student's performance to ensure and help each individual student make progress. She pays special attention and details to what each student needs to be successful and carries that plan out for them. She's collaborative with her team, is a natural leader and such a joy to have at GIS. She creates activities and engaging lessons for students to make 5th grade math fun and when I've observed her class, they are excited, engaged and having fun applying their math skills.
I appreciate Ms. Canell for being a superhero to many. Thank you for your positive impact you have on students and staff at GIS.
Bravely leading students to see their WONDER.
Thank you Ms. Canell - we appreciate you! (5th grade Math Teacher)
