Student Arrival and Dismissal Safety Reminder
We have two locations that students enter the building on a daily basis. Car riders enter through Door 8 on the side of the school facing Wood Street. Mrs. Johansen and/or a Program Assistant are stationed there as supervisors. Walkers or bus riders will enter through Door 1 at the front of the school. Mrs. Watson and/or our clerical Ms. Tafolla are stationed there as supervisors.
All students who ride the school bus home from school will exit the school Door 1 to board their buses. Our classroom teachers walk their classes to their designated bus and ensure that all students board the correct bus each day.
Students who are walking home will dismiss out Door 1, as well. They are to walk along the sidewalk to their destinations. If they rode a bicycle to school, they must walk their bike when on school property. Once they have left school property, they can resume riding their bicycle home.
Students who are car riders should go to Door 8 for parent pick-up. This is where we have staff available to supervise their dismissal and safe entrance to their car. We have heard from the Palatine Park District that students are not using the designated cross walk areas on Wood Street. There have been a few noted issues of kids dodging moving cars to go to their family's car. We appreciate your help keeping our kids safe by following these guidelines.
