Message from Mr. George
Rebels,
It's been a wonderful first 2 weeks of school! We have enjoyed having students back in the building and the energy is positive.
This Monday Sept 19th, we will have our 1st late start. On late start Mondays, 1st period will start at 8:30 am. Students do not need to arrive at school until 8:30, however buses will still pick up at the regular time. Students who are at school prior to 8:30 will be directed to either the LMC, Cafeteria or the Field House.
Please refer to this document for the full schedule for late starts during Trimester 1.

- Reporting an absence for 9th and 10 graders please contact Molly Vittitow at 763-506-7007.
- Reporting an absence for 11th and 12th graders please contact Lorri Hildebrandt at 763-506-7002

Keep in mind, when we are experiencing a high volume of attendance calls, there may be a delay in recording your students' absence. You may be notified that your student has an unverified absence before noon, please disregard if you have notified us of your students' absence.
We encourage you to monitor your student’s attendance on ParentVue. If you need to set up a ParentVue account, please call 763-506-HELP to register or get support to manage your account.
If the absence is due to an illness also provide the following information:
- What symptoms your student is currently having.
- When the symptoms started.
- If there has been a COVID19 test done, date and results if you have them.

Technology Protection Plan for Families
Technology Protection Plan is now available for all families. Enrollment is available through October 31, 2022.
Technology plays an important role in preparing students for life, and Chromebooks are utilized as a daily learning tool in Anoka-Hennepin middle and high school classrooms. Anoka-Hennepin students in grades 6-12 are assigned a Chromebook from the school district to ensure access to technology systems that support classroom learning.
Over 28,000 Chromebooks are distributed to students the first week of school. As careful as students and schools are, accidents do happen each year - and hundreds of Chromebooks are returned at the end of the school year with damages.
The Technology Protection Plan is optional; it is not required, however, by electing not to participate in the Protection Plan, families may be required to reimburse the school district for the replacement or repair of damaged Chromebooks assigned to their student/s. Damaged or broken screens may cost between $100 to $190 depending on parts needed; or the replacement cost for the entire device could be up to $410.
Families can opt-in to the Device Protection Plan:
Log into A-HConnect.
Select “My Student Information,” and then select “Fees.”
Parents must select or decline coverage under the Device Protection Plan.
If you forget your login and password, call 763-506-HELP (4357) or email 506help@ahschools.us.
The plan cost is $20 per student or $60 per family per school year.
If the student qualifies for reduced priced meals, the cost of the Protection Plan will be reduced to $10 ($30 for families).
If the student qualifies for free school meals, the cost will be reduced to zero.

Attention Seniors! Did you know…..
October is College Knowledge Month!
What is College Knowledge Month?
The goal of College Knowledge Month is to provide every graduating high school senior with the preparation, opportunity, and support needed to apply to college. This month-long effort each October allows students to do more than just submit a college application. Within this time frame, students can participate in the college exploration and planning process at their own pace -- and schools can align this initiative with the many college exploration activities that are already taking place during the fall. Many postsecondary institutions waive application fees during College Knowledge Month.

Traffic tips for the back to school season
The back to school season is a busy time for families, school staff and our communities. There is often more traffic congestion in this season and it’s more important than ever for drivers to pay attention before- and after-school to keep families, students and staff safe.
Check out these tips from the Anoka-Hennepin transportation department as a back to school reminder:
Crosswalks: Be mindful that we are sharing the road with young walkers and staff helping them across the crosswalks or intersections. Always stop for school patrols and crossing guards.
Know drop-off and pick-up procedures: Schools have procedures in place to keep traffic safe. Make sure you know your school’s plan for the safety of all students and staff.
Use slow speeds: Use caution in school zones and be aware of your surroundings. We can all work together to ensure the safety of drivers, school buses, walkers and bikers.
School bus safety: Familiarize yourself with school bus safety tips on the road. Always stop if yellow or red lights are flashing or if stop arms are extended from a school bus. Allow extra time for students to board and exit the bus and proceed to safe sidewalks to enter school zones or return home.
Share the road: Be patient of other vehicles stopped for pedestrians or using caution in school zones. Do not pass other vehicles or school buses. Be alert, young children may take an unpredictable path as they are learning safety rules.
Thank you for your partnership in school traffic safety.
Apply for educational benefits for the 2022-23 school year
All Anoka-Hennepin families are encouraged to apply for the educational benefits program for the upcoming school year. A new application must be submitted each school year.
By completing this application, students may receive free or reduced fees for transportation, meals, academic, and co-curricular activities. Please visit ahschools.us/freereduced to set up, or log in to your SchoolCafe account and complete an application for free or reduced-price meal and other benefits. The educational benefits program not only ensures that students have access to nutritious meals, it also provides critical federal funding for schools.
As a reminder, the federal subsidy to provide free school meals for every student will no longer be available this school year. Only one application is needed per household. Please contact the child nutrition department with any questions or assistance at 763-506-1240 or staff.CnpEnrollment@ahschools.us.
