Heritage Students Staying Connected!
From Mr. Rice
Dear Parents,
As I'm sure you are aware, Governor Mike DeWine has closed all K-12 public and private schools in Ohio for the next three weeks. What does this mean for Pickerington? Our district will be closed starting Monday, March 16 - March 20 and Monday, March 30 - April 3 as a part of this mandatory closing. During this time, students are required to complete their blizzard bags which will be coming home today and also will be available online on the PLSD website (below). For the week of March 23rd-27th (PLSD Spring Break) students will not be required to complete blizzard bags.
I am also attaching some talking points from our school nurse with some great advice for parents on how to discuss the COVID-19 with your children. While we know this can be a stressful time, we want to reassure our children that we are keeping them safe.
As I stated above, blizzard bag information is posted on the Pickerington School District website. Please use the following link to access assignments: https://www.pickerington.k12.oh.us/snow-calamity-days/
These assignments are also being sent home with students today. What can you do at home?
Please monitor your child's completion of assignments. These are required assignments and completion will not only be assessed by teachers, but will also verify your child's "attendance" to school. Also, please read, read, read and practice math facts daily!! Please note that your child's teacher(s) will be available via email during regular school hours during this time (except for the week of spring break) should you have any questions. If your child is absent from school today (Friday, March 13) you may pick up your child's blizzard bag on Monday, March 16 in the school office from 9-3. You will not be permitted in classrooms or other parts of the building.
This is a stressful and uncertain time for everyone, and we are treading on unknown territory. Please continue to stress good hygiene with your family, and hopefully we will see everyone back in a few weeks!
Sincerely,
Mr. Rice
