Holy Spirit Newsletter
Term 2 - Week 8 - Tuesday 18th June 2019
School Motto
Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School is committed to the pursuit of Christian Truth & Excellence.
All members of the school community are encouraged to develop their potential and special qualities in an environment centred on Christ.
First Holy Communion Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Bless the children coming forward to receive Holy Communion for the first time on Sunday. May it be an initial step into a life-long love of the Eucharist. Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship. Thank you for their innocence and goodness. May their hands, extended in anticipation of your Body and Blood, inspire all of us to cherish this sacred sacrament.
Amen
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
Congratulations to our Interschool Cross Country team on achieving a joint first place trophy with OLGC held last Wednesday. Thank you to Sarah Thompson for all the organisation and coordination and thanks to Mrs Reynolds, Mr Colace and the many parents who assisted with before school training and helping on the day. This Friday, the Year Five and Year Six Classes will be involved in the Lightning Carnival with seven other schools, playing Netball, Soccer and AFL. We wish our teams good luck and Mr V, Mrs Sims and Mr Colace will also be attending the Lightning Carnival.
As always, there are a lot of events and happenings around our school community. This Thursday is the Year Three Class Mass at 9am and also the P&F meeting at 7pm in the library. Next Sunday 23rd June, the Year Four Class, along with Mateus De Lima Pereira and other prep candidates are making the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. We keep all candidates, teachers and parents in our prayers as they continue to prepare for this Sacrament. Thank you to the Year Three parents for providing the morning tea being held after Mass.
Next Wednesday night, 26th June, we have our Parent Information night from 7pm to 8pm. At this Information night, the Leadership Team, Natasha Ogonowski (School Board Chair) and other staff members will speak about the programs and initiatives currently in place in our school and our future plans. An invitation along with an agenda will be send out to our school community shortly. Everyone is welcome to attend.
A new Mr V and P&F Initiative is Coffee Fridays. The inaugural event will take place on Friday 28th June in the undercover area from 8am to 9am. It an opportunity to mingle and join in with friends, staff and leadership team, whilst enjoying a coffee. See P&F section for more details.
Just a friendly reminder about our Kiss and Drive zone. Children are loaded into cars in the first three bays only. This works well in keeping children safe and for the line to flow through smoothly. Also, please remind your child to cross the road at the round about where the teacher on duty can safely assist your child across the road.
Have a wonderful week ahead!

Wanted: A New P&F Treasurer
Therefore we are recruiting!
Jo will tell you that the Treasurer role is very easy (hence she continued for such a long time) and you don't need to be an accountant or in finance to do it! If you like numbers or are good with your personal budgets/finances - we want you!
As a small community empowered primary school, we are very lucky to have so many wonderful parents that give up their valuable time and energy to making our school a wonderful place for our children to learn. Without their efforts, our P&F would not be possible.
If you can spare 2-3 hours a month for at least 6 months (end of the school year) we would love to hear from you!
Please contact Sam Cheesman on 0406 003 440 or samanthacheesman@gmail.com.
