4th Grade Had Their First Family Meeting!
They discussed the following with the 4th graders on the front porch:
Behavioral & Academic Expectations
Procedures
#1 Rule: If what you are doing interferes with learning, hurts someone’s heart, or prevents you from doing YOUR best ~ you shouldn’t be doing it.
Perseverance & Self-Efficacy
Hello from the 5th Grade Team!
The fifth-grade team has thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our students! We have had a busy start to the school year. Students have participated in so many STEAM challenges to help build community, foster relationships, and develop problem-solving skills within the classroom. Ask your child about one of the many challenges they participated in (Marshmallow Tower, Paper Chain Science, Save Fred, etc.) Students also thought deeply about their 5th-grade year and set goals and individual wishes for their year, as well as created handprints to celebrate our individuality. We are excited for a fun-filled year full of learning and adventures!

From the PE/Wellness Department:
Welcome back everyone. We are looking forward to having an awesome school year here at Shaw. We just wanted to send out a friendly reminder that on the days that your child has PE or Wellness, please make sure that they are dressed for physical activity (and the weather), are wearing sneakers, and limit the amount of jewelry that they are wearing. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us in the gym office X34141.

Instructional Coaches
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! As coaches, we provide instructional support in classrooms with teachers and special education staff for their respective content areas at Shaw. We work with teachers and administration to administer assessments, analyze student data, determine instructional and student learning needs, and identify research-based strategies to improve instructional practice. We also work with district and building administration to design and provide professional learning opportunities focused on improving student performance. In addition, we collaborate with other building-based coaches to support curriculum alignment across the schools in Millbury. Our role is to perpetuate the culture of collaborative, adult learning. We wholeheartedly support our school commitment to fostering an environment where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging.
We are excited to work with our dynamic staff and extraordinary students for what is shaping up to be a SHAWesome year! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions relating to curriculum.
Best,
Juliet Rodriguez - ELA & Social Studies
