AES Weekly Blast

News from the Principal

With another week of the temperature being up and down we found time during recess to play kickball, pool noodle baseball, helping spread the newly dropped bark mulch on the playground, and pool noodle drumming. Mrs. Sheridan's Grade 1 class and I practiced pool noodle drumming to Imagine Dragons, Queen, Dance Monkey, and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Once the weather is nice we will put on a recess show for the other students. As tick season is upon us we are also doing a quick tick check as we enter back into the school building. Please make sure to check your child every night as well.

Townsend, MA Earth Day Event April 24, 2021

Earth Day in Townsend, MA is returning on Saturday, April 24, 2021! We have a modified event this year, but it’s happening! Due to gathering regulations, we have dispersed the fun throughout the town. Come to the Townsend Common’s parking lot between 9 A.M.-noon to purchase a map ($5.) to see where all the activities are being held. Map sales support future Earth Day Celebrations and the Town of Townsend recycling efforts. Crafters will be happy to see you, as you explore our Town-Wide Crafters Sale at both homes and designated areas. Vendors and businesses have joined in and many nonprofits will be set up to discuss their missions too. You can help celebrate, “saving the earth” by participating in the numerous Recycling Drives; free paper shredding at the common parking lot sponsored by Tammi Wayman of eXp Realty, electronics ($) drop off at St. John’s Church, returnable bottles and cans collected by Boy Scouts Troop 10 at the Townsend Rod and Gun Club, eyeglass gathering by the Lions in the common parking lot, and textile/clothing being accepted by the NMRHS student group, The Giving Tree at the high school. We can’t have an Earth Day event without food or animals. The Lions Club will be selling their “award winning” hot dogs and Mapledell Farm will have a petting zoo and pony rides ($). Times vary for each location. For specific information concerning the day and the recycling efforts, please join Townsend Earth Day on facebook. Questions?
