Maverick Minutes
Week of 2/19-23
Love is in the air!
Please don't take my decision to move forward from the recent shooting as disrespect. Three heroic teachers passed and fourteen children left this earth way too young. We will continue to ensure the safety of all of our HiRMS family and put drills in place to do so. But, I ask you repeatedly to fill this building with the love you do your own homes and love these children like your own, and you constantly do that. It is my hope and prayer that if we continue to do that with each of them and each other, we stand a better chance to avoid the sadness and anger that is in Florida right now.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Have a great week---keep spreading kindness and love!

Are we ready?
1. In most shootings, the teacher's desk, science tables, book shelves, etc. became barricades...where are yours in regards to the doors.
2. Bookbags with books can sometimes take the bullet. Students have been known to put them on their chest to protect themselves.
3. You are not expected to be a hero, but you are to do whatever you can to protect the children.
4. Know where you have sent your students so that you know where they are.
5. In the event of a shooting, turn your cellphone ringers to silence.
We will continue to put drills in place to cover areas that may be of a concern for us. Remind students to take all drills, even fire drills seriously.
On the Walls...in the Halls!
A Day of Kindness!

Supporting Outside the Ridge!
Amongst some of the youngest lifters competing, 14 year old Trevor finished 6th in the 56kg division, and 15 year old Ava finished 9th in the 48kg division.
Two top 10 finishes for our Youth lifters at Jr Nationals was outstanding day for both!!
This was also the 1st time in over 4 years that we had youth lifters at a National event!
Congratulations to these young people on a great accomplishment!
