A Message from Dr. Frischkorn

Greetings Mayfield Community!

I would like to extend a Happy Thanksgiving to the entire Mayfield community. This is always a great time a year to reflect on the things that we are thankful for. I'm thankful for the opportunity to serve as principal of Mayfield Intermediate School and work in a dynamic school division such as Manassas City Public Schools. I'm thankful for our diverse student population that always provides me opportunities to learn new things such as languages, cultures, and most new and creative ways to learn. I'm thankful for our staff at Mayfield Intermediate who work tirelessly to make sure that all students that are part of our community are provided an opportunity to learn and grow socially and emotionally every day that they are here. Please take the time over the extended break to find something that you are thankful for!

With gratitude,

#MayfieldISProud

Welcome to our New Greeter: Rachael Porter

Last week we welcomed our new greeter at Mayfield, Ms. Rachael Porter. Ms. Porter is replacing Nykea McIntyre, who accepted a new job opportunity. Mayfield will miss Mrs. McIntyre, but we are also very excited to welcome Ms. Porter to the Mayfield family. Ms. Porter grew up in Manassas City and has worked in several of the school in various roles. Next time you come to Mayfield, please be sure to welcome Ms. Porter.

Spanish for Educators

Over 20 of Mayfield's teachers continue to participate in a Spanish for Educators class that is being taught by Ms. Foster. Last week Ms. Foster had some of her students from her language arts class come to the class and only communicate with the teachers in Spanish. This was a great way to immerse teachers in the Spanish language and to get us out of our comfort zone and using the new Spanish words and phrases that we have learned during the first 3 weeks of the course. The students were amazing teachers and were very helpful and made all the teachers feel successful. We have some awesome students in this school!
