8th Grade Promotion
The 8th grade Promotion Ceremony will take place Thursday, May 25, 2023 in the Plano High School Main Gym. Students and families should enter through the Athletics entrance on the west side of the building. The ceremony begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the Plano High School Gymnasium. Students should arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. and report to the Auxiliary Gym for lineup. Appropriate attire should consist of dress clothes. Jeans, shorts, sportswear, hats, etc. should not be worn.
We have arranged for a professional photographer to take a photo of each student as they receive their promotion certificate. Information on how to order pictures will be available the night of the ceremony.
Please read and share the following expectations for our promotion ceremony to ensure a positive experience for all students:
· Every family should be able to hear their student’s name announced. Spectators are asked to refrain from inappropriate outbursts such as: loud shouting, use of noise-makers, or wild applause. There will be an opportunity to applaud the entire class once all students have received their certificates.
· Spectators need to remain in their seats during the ceremony.
· Parents and families please do not give your student balloons, flowers, or anything else during the ceremony. It disrupts and delays the ceremony. There will be an opportunity after the ceremony to greet your student and express your gratitude.
Following these rules will help keep the ceremony moving along and provide a meaningful experience for ALL students. We appreciate your efforts as parents and look forward to seeing you on May 25, 2023. Congratulations to the 2023 Eighth Grade Class!

Informational Reminders:
How and Where do I check my students Grades?
Schoology is used as our active gradebook. To check your student's grades on a daily or weekly basis make sure you have an active Schoology account and have access to see your student's classes, assignments and grades. PowerSchool gradebook is updated for mid term and end of term grade reporting, but it is not the go to to check in on daily progress. If you do not have a Schoology account see the links below to set one up. When setting up your account if you need an access code please email your students Advisory teacher for the code or call the main office.
If your student is absent due to illness or other reasons:
To stay up to date with class work, students should check Schoology pages daily to access assignments, lessons, and activities during their absence. Contact teachers directly via email with any questions related to school work.
