#ButlerUnited Update:
October begins Bullying Prevention Month. In October, as a school, we will be focusing on bullying prevention, bystander awareness, and school unity. The school counselors are teaching lessons to all students about bullying and conflict resolution skills. October 24th we will celebrate Unity Day where all students and staff are encouraged to wear orange to demonstrate that we are truly #ButlerUnited.
We will be posting challenges each week in order to unite Butler with a call to action to help Butler be its best--Building Everyone’s Success Together! We hope that during this month of action we help to defuse bullying and shift the culture at Butler Middle School! Remember, when we stand together no one stands alone. Please watch this video to kick off the month.
Week 1 Challenge: Send a Smile
This week’s challenge has been called Send a Smile. Each day this week we asked you to smile at 5 people who could use a boost. Did you know that student bystanders are often aware of bullying situations before adults in the school? It is important that all students feel empowered to step up when they witness bullying. Students are encouraged to stand up for one another and such behavior should be recognized and rewarded. This one seemingly simple act can help defuse bullying and shift the culture here at Butler Middle School.
Art Club
Butler Buddies
Butler Buddies will meet on Tuesday, October 16th after school until 3:30 in room 323.
Butler Buddies is open to any student in 6th, 7th and 8th grade, however it is more specifically designed for students with special needs. Butler Buddies will “buddy up” with other clubs throughout the school year, giving students exposure to activities which they might not necessarily participate in on their own. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Salinas or Mrs. Rivera.
Volleyball starts on Tuesday, November 27 to Thursday, December 20, 2018. We will play Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays unless there is a wrestling meet here at Butler. Each session will run from 2:45 to 3:45. This is not a competitive league, it is a great opportunity for students of all skill levels to get together and play volleyball.
In order to participate students must return a signed permission slip to the attendance office and have a signed concussion form on file in the office. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Kirsch (970-2953) or Mrs. Harrington (970-2959).
