Remote Learning
Most of our learners have accessed Empower this week, but not ALL have. All learners had deliverables/evidence due this week in multiple courses; however, many learners have not submitted their work as of this morning. You will receive a school messenger voice mail from me today that is specific to your child's grade level with more information. Our facilitators do a remarkable job of coaching and supporting learners, monitoring their progress and encouraging their resilience to finish strong. As such, parents of seemingly independent learners may presume that their child is doing just fine. The truth is ~ they NEED you. They need your questions even if they tell you they don't. Here are some suggestions to facilitate learning from home:
1. Sit with your child and review together the grade level communication document where work is organized with due dates for a big picture view.
2. Discuss a plan for the learning that day and a time for you to check back in to review their progress. Submitted work in Empower will have a green circle with a white check mark where the learner has alerted the facilitator that their evidence has been submitted.
Recommended Learner Schedule:
Monday/Wednesday
English
Science
CTE (Engineering/Tech)
Tuesday/Thursday
Social Studies
Math
LOTE
Art
Friday
Review, Reflect, Reteach
3. Offer flexibility and choices. My child responds well to a work/break system, but he must show me what he has submitted to his teachers. I don't check for work and progress in every class on every day of the week. Hopefully, our kiddos can take advantage of the suggested schedule for productivity and have Fridays for flexibility, tutoring, extra time, or a break.
4. Encourage your child to email or message in Empower the facilitators with a question or need for extra help. Daily office hours have been shared for each facilitator when just-in-time support can be provided.
5. Review our weekly campus communication. We are posting the previous week's eNews on our school main webpage for quick access.
Counselors' Corner
As learners move into their second week of remote learning, please know that our counselors are here to support any learners with social/emotional needs as well as academic concerns. The best way to reach your learner's counselor is by email.

Senior Transcript Requests
We are here to help ~ Any senior that needs a high school transcript to be sent to a college or university will need to follow the same process as before and request a transcript through Naviance.
If any learner needs a copy of their transcript for a scholarship, internship, or the like, they will need to request a copy of the transcript through the following link:
https://myforms.pisd.edu/Forms/TRequest
Be sure to provide an email address that we can use to reach you with any questions we may have. The transcript will be sent as a password protected PDF.
If you have any questions regarding transcripts, please contact Ashley Madding, registrar, at ashley.madding@pisd.edu.
