All Things SLI
Silver Lake Intermediate Oct. 30, 2020
SLI Families:
I can't believe it is time to turn back the clocks for Daylight Savings. We have met some big challenges so far this school year, and I couldn't be prouder. Our staff and students are continuously working to met those challenges.
It is so important to keep our children safe. It is so appreciated by all of us when families are responsible and keeping their children home if they are not feeling well. Many of our SLI families are taking precautionary steps above and beyond our expectations.
It is also appreciated that our students who need to be at home are logging into the Canvas learning platform and digging right into their learning. We do our best to keep that learning going via a quarantine learning plan (QLP). The QLP is a summary for families to better understand how students can continue learning while at home for a brief period of time. Administration or our Student Services Team email the plan to families as soon as they are able to after learning a student needs to be home. If at any time, your child needs extra support to continue their learning, please reach out to their teachers, administration, or Student Services.
Lastly, a big thank you to Lisa Hayes, who made our Book Fair happen even during these times. We had multiple Book Fair trivia winners to make it extra special.
Enjoy the long weekend as there is no school this Monday, November 2.

Can't Hide Our SLI Pride
SLI had their PBIS (Cyclone Pride) Kickoff day this week on Wednesday. The Kickoff Day is designed to promote positive school culture and the good behaviors that help create that culture. We started the day off with Cyclone Circle time that included a video with former SLI students now at OHS. They shared what they loved about their time at SLI. Then throughout the day each grade level went out to our back playground area and helped fill in a big SLI chalk design.

Thankful for Our Community Food Drive
Don't be alarmed if your child calls you from the principal's office! Yes, sometimes students make unwise choices as part of their growing and learning during adolescence and SLI administration will call to speak to parents/guardians. However, there will be A LOT of positive phone calls coming from the principal's office this year.

The Character Strong curriculum is built around the “Eight Essential” character traits and social emotional skills that have been proven to help us be productive, empathetic, successful people. We will be working together to build a kinder school culture and, ultimately, a kinder world. We are so excited to dive into this resource with our students and staff, and with families as well!
