Blue Valley schools head to Union Station for the #BOTBKC competition
Take a look at some pictures from the Burns & McDonnell Battle of the Brains Top 20 ceremony at Union Station! Three of our outstanding schools — Timber Creek Elementary, Prairie Star Elementary and Oxford Middle — were finalists, each receiving a $2,500 grant for their school.
This competition, inspired by kids and supported by Burns & McDonnell, is a K-12 STEM initiative that gives students the chance to bring their creative ideas to life at Union Station's Science City. Battle of the Brains showcases the authentic purpose and realization of these ideas, embodying the heart of what education is about.
To learn more about the finalists' experience at the competition, you can watch the recap video on the district's YouTube channel.
Community Connection Point with the BOE set for Feb. 29
Blue Valley community members have an opportunity to engage with the Board of Education from 6-7 p.m. on February 29 in the Oxford Middle library.
Community Connection Point gives Blue Valley community members an opportunity to talk with Board of Education members in a less formal setting. Hosted at various schools around the district, the round-table conversation format allows for great conversations about topics of interest in the community.
A sign-up is available for patrons who have questions for board members, but no sign-up is required to attend. More information about Community Connection Point with the BOE is available on the district’s website.
Blue Valley students make outstanding achievements on 2023 assessments
Blue Valley students continue soaring to new heights! According to 2023 Kansas assessment data, Blue Valley students scoring a 3 or above on state assessments is higher than all other Kansas districts and private school groups with 10,000 or more students. This is a great example of how dedicated and hardworking our students are and how they embrace being #ChampionsofLearning.
