Fine Arts Expansion and Construction on Campus
This week, you may notice newly installed fencing on the south side of the building by the athletics driveway. The fencing will help to keep our students safe during the construction process over the next 9 months. The portable will be removed this month and initial sitework to begin in December.
Please use the NISD Construction Webpage to see realtime updates on your 2017 bond dollars at work for our students!
Walking Safely in Our Community
Tips for Drivers, Share the Road
- Be on the lookout for cyclists or pedestrians, especially at intersections.
- Make eye contact with pedestrians or bicyclists before turning.
- Follow posted speed limits.
- Give the pedestrian the right of way.
- Be alert in school zones, bus drop-off and pickup areas, or play grounds.
- Make a plan – look for the safest route with less traffic, slower speeds, more lighting, and sidewalks.
- Always cross at intersections. Look left, then right, then left again before proceeding.
- Look for traffic when stepping off a bus or from behind parked cars.
- As a passenger, get in or out of a car on the curb side of the street.
- Make eye contact with drivers before you cross the street.
- Avoid all distractions, such as cell phones and ear buds or other electronics

Semester Exam Schedule - Tuesday, December 17 - Friday, December 20
Students will have two semester exams per day, beginning December 17th. We share the schedule so early so that families can arrange appointments outside of testing periods.
The last day of the semester, December 20th, is an early release day. All other days of the week are full school days.
Week of December 16 - 20
Monday - Regular Schedule, 8:50 am - 4:10 pm
Tuesday - 2nd and 7th Period Exams, 8:50 am - 4:10 pm
Wednesday - 3rd and 6th period Exams, 8:50 am - 4:10 pm
Thursday - 1st and 5th period Exams, 8:50 am - 4:10 pm
Friday - 4th and 8th period Exams, 8:50 am - 12:50 pm EARLY RELEASE
What if my student is absent during the week of exams?
NISD practice is not to give early exams, so please plan for your student to be in attendance. In the event of illness or family emergencies, any student who did not complete an exam the week of exams will be able make them up beginning January 6th.
We will offer campus appointments on the student holidays January 6 and 7 for students to make up their exams, or students can make arrangements with each teacher for before or after school January 8 - 10. The advantage to the campus testing days 1/6 & 1/7 is that the student can take multiple exams in a day before getting back to a full class schedule.
Please email our Counseling and Assistant Principals Secretary Ms. Canas (veronica.canas@nisdtx.org) to make an appointment to take any make up exam on 1/6 and 1/7 (Office Hours are 8 to 4:30 pm).
Please note that per NISD Grading Guidelines, the exams will initially show as “0”s until made up (within one week); the replacement grades will show on HAC upon completion and on the next report card at the 9 weeks.
Weather Information
As the seasons change, we wanted to remind our community about our campus procedures for inclement weather.
General Student Pick Up: Buses will depart within 15 min of the end of the day and parents should make arrangements to pick students up by 4:30 PM unless they are participating in extracurricular or supervised during other after school activities.
As the weather changes, here is a timely link to the NISD School Closings information with FAQs such as:
- How are decisions made to cancel school?
- When would I get the call that school is canceled, delayed, or releasing early?
It's also a good time to verify in Home Access Center (under "Registration") the adults that can pick up your student from school early. Having accurate pick up information helps our office staff's efficiency in the case of emergencies and unusual events. Email tjeffers@nisdtx.org with any needed changes.
How can I stay current with Wilson Info?
We send out a Wilson MS email at least once every two weeks. An archive of emailed newsletters can always be found at this link.
Campus Calendar is Always Live at this Link
Athletics Calendar is Always Live at this Link
Other ways to stay in the loop are to follow us on social media via Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter: @TruettWilsonMS
Text messages and emails are sent to the contact information you provide in online registration, but if there are ever changes, please alert our registrar Ms. Jeffers at tjeffers@nisdtx.org. We don't want you to miss a thing!
How about students? How do they keep up with campus information?
Our campus has a daily advisory period with the three main goals in the graphic below. Learn more about Advisory 101 at this link!
Twice a week, we air our student created program called The Wilson Word! In addition to posters around campus and Wilson social media accounts, students use our broadcast to stay up to date about events and to promote positive culture and communication. As a caregiver, most of your campus information is from this biweekly newsletter! Still, you can watch The Wilson Word anytime via our YouTube channel. Hit "subscribe" and "notify" for alerts when new videos are uploaded.
Thank YOU for staying up to date on campus activities and the Wildcat Way! With such an active community, it benefits the students when we are all on the same page!
