Blue Day for JDRF - Wear Blue and bring a $1 to bring a stuffed animal on this day - January 15th

The Gingerbread Man Run is coming on February 1st!

Gingerbread Man Running

Please join us for our traditional Greystone family one mile fun run. After the run there will be hot chocolate and gingerbread man cookie decorating.

This year we will have timed Speed Stacks (cup stacking) going on in the gym.

Long sleeved t-shirts are available for you to purchase. Shirts are an irish green color with our cute gingerbread man running away from all of the fast students trying to catch and eat him! Please use My School Fees to purchase your shirts. They are $8.50. Available sizes are listed in the order information. The deadline to purchase the shirts is January 15.

You do not need to preregister for the run. Please bring the whole family!

NEXT WEEKEND - January 18th - Spirit Day at Master Scarsella's World Class Tae Kwon Do

Calling all Responsible Fourth Graders... Are you interested in joining Safety Patrol?

Safety Patrol

We are searching for students who are interested in serving on our Safety Patrol Team for the 3rd & 4th nine weeks. You should only apply for this position if you want to help keep Greystone safe and can commit to keeping up with this responsibility.

Morning patrols must be at their post by 7:15 a.m. Afternoon patrols should plan to be on duty until 3:10 p.m. Parents need to be sure their child will be at school by their designated time. We do not want patrols arriving late for their post or leaving early.

Being a part of safety patrol is a position of honor and leadership. We appreciate the work that the patrols do and the time they give to the school. Safety patrol members must realize that this is a commitment and they will be expected to be on post at their scheduled time.

Students who serve on the safety patrol team during the 3rd & 4th nine weeks will earn a special party at the end of the year.

If you would like to apply to be a part of safety patrol for the 3rd & 4th nine weeks, please email me at kcarns@hoover.k12.al.us or submit an application through the following website:

Winter Assembly Update

Parents,

In an effort to protect instructional time, we are not going to have a winter awards assembly. Students will be recognized for perfect attendance, core values, and community service through our morning announcements and in their classrooms. We will have an awards assembly at the end of the year.

Erin's Law Information

Attention All Parents: To comply with Erin’s Law, HCS school counselors and administrators have created a plan to provide basic child sexual abuse prevention lessons for students. We have prepared a brief video that outlines plans for elementary, middle and high school levels. You will find more detailed information on HCS’s plan to implement Erin’s Law, including the option for your child to opt out of these lessons if you so choose (return by Feb. 1st). This information is also available in Spanish. Disclaimer: If you need alternate accommodations in accessing the video content, please contact Marley Stephens at mstephens@hoover.k12.al.us.
