Family Ministries Update
Catch Up On The Latest for Cathedral Youth/Kids/Nursery
From Canon Josh Bales
Dear Cathedral Parents,
Our new ministry season kicks off this Sunday, September 8th, at 9am, with a church-wide fellowship breakfast in the Great Hall. Below you'll find important updates to keep you plugged into what's happening with families at the Cathedral this year.
We care deeply about fostering in our children, infants, and students, a vibrant, life-long, relationship with Jesus Christ. If you have questions, suggestions, prayer requests, or concerns to this end, please send them to me in an email, or call the church office. I would love to talk with you.
Let me encourage you at the outset of this school year to make plans to join us on Sunday mornings AND bring your kids. Make Sunday morning Worship and Sunday School a priority in your home for the sake of your own relationship with Jesus and his Church, and for your kids' relationship with Jesus and his Church. This is a family life investment you won't regret.
Two logistical matters I want to mention as we kick off this season: First, here is a safety reminder. There are no unauthorized individuals allowed in the Education Building (Nursery/Sunday School Classes) or in the Undercroft (Children's Chapel/EYC Room) apart from drop-off and pick-up times. Authorized individuals include our Cathedral Kids staff, workers, and volunteers. Thanks for helping us uphold this safety standard. Second, we are asking parents to make reservations for childcare on Wednesday nights this year (see below).
A resource I commend to you this season is John Stonestreet's A Practical Guide to Culture: Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today's World. John is a really smart guy, a passionate Christian, President of the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, and a friend. He and his wife, Sarah, are in the same boat as all of us, raising kids and praying they'll know how to follow Christ in the days ahead.
Grateful for the presence of your family at our Cathedral,
Fr. Josh

Nursery News
We are pleased to announce that Leigh Anne Vancol has accepted the position as Nursery Coordinator. Leigh Anne has been volunteering as Nursery Coordinator since March, and she has her B.A. in Elementary Education, M.A. in Special Education, and experience teaching all age and ability groups. She is also a parent to two young children who are active in the nursery.
As a reminder, please label all bottles and cups used by your child. Also, please label your child's diaper bag. For your convenience, we have both temporary stickers and more permanent luggage label tags for labeling.
In conjunction with the Sunday School Kickoff on September 8, the older children (older 3's who are potty trained) will be transitioning from the Nursery to Children's Church (with Susie Dunlap). Please see Leigh Anne or Susie for any questions or concerns about the transition.
We are always excited about parents volunteering in the nursery! Please let Leigh Anne or Susie know if you have any interest in doing so.
Sunday School
Join us in the Great Hall for breakfast at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2019. This is our Sunday School Kickoff! The classrooms assigned are as follows:
Room 236: Pre-K and K
Room 238: 1st and 2nd grade
Room 234: 3rd through 5th grade
Wednesday Night Classes & Small Groups
Wednesday Night Classes and Small Groups are resuming in September! Childcare will be provided from 5:45 - 8:15 p.m. Lauren Forgey has graciously agreed to be the coordinator of our Wednesday night childcare programs. She has planned a fun evening with crafts and bible lessons for the children so you can attend a class or small group. Please bring your child’s dinner and drink, clearly labeled. Also, if your child/children have any allergies, please make sure Lauren knows of these allergies at the time of check-in. We would appreciate knowing if you plan to bring your child. Please send a text 321-229-2485 or email to Sdunlap@stlukescathedral.org. to reserve childcare for Wednesday nights. Please include your child’s name and age when making your reservation.
Mom's Night Out
Mom's Night Out is resuming in September! It will typically take place on the third Thursday of the month, with childcare provided from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.
If you have any children’s ministry questions please contact Susie Dunlap sdunlap@stlukescathedral.org.
