GRAHAM ELEMENTARY WEEKLY UPDATE | AUGUST 26TH, 2021
Dear Graham Families,
Congratulations on completing the first full week of a new school year!
I was delighted to see the new and returning falcons that make up our amazing learning community back in action. The positive energy and dedication I saw from staff and students this week has me looking forward to a wonderful new school year.
I saw our incredible teachers helping students to learn classroom expectations and diving into new and exciting curriculum. Our committed office team helped solve numerous back-to-school logistic issues such as forgotten lunches, and early dismissals. Our hard working and diligent custodians continue to keep us safe and healthy by thoroughly cleaning the building. And our much-appreciated PTA hosted events and provided information to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting updates for the coming year.
It was always clear that this is an exuberant and thoughtful community, but it was especially easy to see this past week that we all share common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-levels of learning.
With respect and excitement for the coming year,
Notification of Positive COVID-19 Cases in Schools
Positive cases of COVID-19 in your child's school can be found on the District's COVID Dashboard. The dashboard includes all positive cases of COVID-19 reported to District 204 for individuals who were on campus. The information is updated each Monday by 4 pm. If your child is in close contact with someone who tested positive, a member of the COVID-19 Response Team will notify you directly regarding the need to quarantine as a precaution. Additional information found on this page includes the current transmission level and a link to the corresponding mitigation strategies.
Parents will be notified if their child is considered a close contact with someone who tested positive. Our COVID-19 Response Team at Graham is our Registered School Nurse, Randi Kleffman, and our Certified School Nurse, Cathy Lozon. If your child is considered a close contact, you will be given a Quarantine Information Sheet (K-2, 3-5) along with your child's return date, to provide information in what schooling will look like for your child during quarantine. Additionally, I have linked here the District’s Fall Plan with slides 10-13 providing information regarding isolation and quarantine for our elementary students.
REMINDER | SELF CERTIFY ON SEPTEMBER 1ST
According to IPSD-204 COVID Guidelines, the current transmission level requires monthly self-certification. On Wednesday, September 1st, please remember to self-certify your student in the ParentVue app. Please have this completed prior to the start of the school day.
STUDENT ATTENDANCE TAKEN DAILY
Please call the attendance line to report an absence for your child whether they are attending In-Person or Remote.
If your child is absent, arriving late, or leaving early, please report their absence in the ParentVue App or call our 24-hour attendance line at (630-428-6900, Option 3). It is important you provide a specific reasoning so as to assist with monitoring such illnesses as COVID-19 and the flu within our area.
