Pirate Update!
Pirate Families,
Here we are, already entering our last week of the 1st Semester! Next week we have arranged for some dress up days for students if they would like to participate. The details are included below.
Tuesday, December 13th, is our Step it Up Day of Awesomeness Field Day for any students who earned at least $50 towards the fundraiser. Please check your student's fundraiser account to verify if they raised enough money to attend the field day. If so, please make sure that your student wears socks the day of the event to participate. All fundraiser prizes have arrived and will be delivered to students during the event.
Also on the 13th from 6pm-8pm we will be hosting our Winter Formal dance in the gym. Students will be going home on the bus after school and are welcome to return at 6pm. San Antonio Elementary will also be hosting their winter concert in our auditorium that evening so parking will be limited, please drop students off in the front office parking lot. All students need to be picked up at 8pm that evening, please plan to pick-up all students in our front office loop like normal car pick-up. We are selling 300 tickets to this event, so we ask for patience during the pick-up process that evening.
Next week we are asking that students leave backpacks at home Wednesday through Friday. Small purses/bags for personal items or other necessities (medical, etc.) will be allowed.
Thank you for your support as we work together to ensure that our children have every opportunity to become college, career, and life ready! I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Gilbert

Restroom Policy
- Students will no longer be able to use the restroom during the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of your class. Students can use the restroom during passing, at lunch, and also during class for the 30-minute block in-between the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes.
- Students will have 3 total passes per quarter per teacher, once these passes are used, the teacher will contact the main office to ask for a restroom escort. Any passes that have been used previous to this start date will not count towards these 3 passes.
- Teachers will print a master roster per class period to track restroom use by using a tally system (3 total passes per quarter)
- Teachers will use this universal restroom log for students to sign in and out by date and time to ensure if there is vandalism, and so our administration team knows which students were utilizing the restroom during that time.
Please note: There will be times where a student is having a restroom emergency and should be able to use the restroom immediately during these circumstances regardless of pass limits. Teachers and staff will use professional judgement when it comes to student restroom emergencies.

As part of the PBIS Rewards suite of apps, the free Parent App allows parents to view student point totals, the number of referrals (aka consequences), items purchased with points, and upcoming events for which points can be used. 2022 - 2023 PE Waiver
Florida state legislation requires students in grades 6-8 to take at least one semester of physical education - PE each year. The legislation allows parents to waive the requirement if the student meets at least one of the following:
- The student is enrolled or required to enroll in a remedial course (waiver not required).
- The parent requests that the student enrolls in another elective course offered by the school at that grade level.
- The student is participating in equivalent physical activities outside of the school day.
***A student may still be assigned to PE unless there are documented health conditions & the waiver is completed.
Free and Reduced Meal Application
Currently, all 2022-2023 students will receive free breakfast and lunch regardless of eligibility. However, we strongly encourage you to complete the new free and reduced meal application, as schools receive a portion of their funding based on the percentage of students who qualify.
To review the eligibility guidelines and complete an application, please visit www.pascoschoolmeals.com.
