Pilgrims on the Way of Truth

Oh, the Homecoming Proposals!

Do you remember how you were asked to Homecoming? Just a few decades ago, it was perhaps done through a note passed in science class, or an awkward phone-call (with your friends on the other line in that new "call waiting" feature!) Today, the "proposals" are sometimes just that: carefully thought-out, Pinterest-worthy events that are as elaborate as a marriage proposal! No matter how they decide to ask their dates - or even if they choose to all go as a group of friends - we hope that everyone has a wonderful experience!

We have made one adjustment to the Homecoming Week schedule that you should be aware of: We have moved the PowderPuff Game time to 7:30 pm on Thursday, Sept. 28th (originally to be played at 6:30 pm) since we also have a home Volleyball Game starting at 6:00 pm. We wanted to make sure that our students could enjoy cheering BOTH great events!

Please remember that we don't have school on Monday, Sept. 18th, as our entire faculty will be heading to Belvidere for a Diocesan-wide in-service. And what great weather we are expecting to have for this long weekend! We hope you all are able to spend a little extra time with each-other and enjoy the sunshine!

Click HERE for the official invite/newsletter and RSVP to join Ms. Novy!

Principal's Coffee was designed to invite parents to come and hear about what new things are brewing at Marian. It also allows parents to discuss ideas, concerns, and perspectives with regards to our school.

Please consider attending our first Principal's Coffee of the year, meet other parents, and talk with the Principal directly, all in the hopes of making Marian a stand-out from other high schools; providing the highest academics, spiritual guidance, and social/emotional support possible to our students.

If you cannot make this meeting, no worries. We hold one each quarter. This year we will be alternating our meeting times to meet the needs of more families. Quarters 1 & 3 will be held in the evening and Quarters 2 & 4 will be morning sessions.

Homecoming Dance Tickets - ON SALE Sept. 19th - 22nd During all Lunch Periods!

Homecoming Dance Tickets on Sale During ALL Lunch Periods Tuesday, Sept. 19 - Friday, Sept. 22nd! PLEASE encourage your student to purchase tickets early in the week! The lines on Friday are impossible, and we cannot write passes to any students for their next class period should there be a back-up in the line!

Here's what EVERY student needs in order to purchase a ticket:

  1. $10 check (made payable to Marian Central - please write "Homecoming Ticket" in memo) or CASH per ticket purchased.
  2. If bringing a Non-Marian Date - COMPLETED Date Request Form (we cannot sell a ticket for a non-Marian student without this!)
  3. If purchasing for a Marian-date, we need that student's name & emergency contact info.
  4. Parent/Guardian's name and Emergency Contact #

It's imperative that we have CORRECT emergency contact information for every child, just in case an emergency arises DURING the dance.

Homecoming 2017 Facts Sheet!

Date Request Forms Have been available in the school office since Sept. 11th. They are also linked within the Facts Sheet above and available for immediate download!

College Financial Aid Information Now Available Online!

For those families who were unable to attend last week's College Financial Aid program, there is now a link on the Financial Aid section of the Guidance web site (under the Student tab) to the PowerPoint that was shown by the presenter that night. For those of you who did attend the program, the PowerPoint has been updated to reflect what was shown that night, too.

Student ID Cards - GOOD TO KNOW!

Not only are Student ID's required to purchase items in the cafeteria, but they are also required when students sign in/out if they arrive late or leave early from school. Beginning October 1st, we will be charging students a $5 replacement fee if they do not have their ID. We will no longer be writing "passes" to use in the lunch-room, nor allow late/early sign-in without the Marian Central School ID. Please make sure your student has the card on them at all times at school.
