The Latest Early Childhood Developments by Wayne RESA
February 3, 2023
Early Childhood Services Department at Wayne Regional Educational Service Agency (Wayne RESA)

Notes from the Executive Director
Greetings Wayne County,
It's hard to believe but we are only a week away from Count Day - Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
We recognize that this school year has been challenging in many ways. We encourage you to continue all of your efforts this week in your final push to try to achieve your enrollment goals.
Signing Incentive Update
To continue to support your staffing needs, we are extending the full hiring incentive through February 15, 2023. We will also continue signing incentives for staff hired after February 15th but before the end of the program year who make a commitment to stay in the program through the 2023-2024 school year. Staff hired during this window will be eligible for 50% of the incentive at the time of hire, and 50% in February 2024. Please email EarlyChildhood@resa.net with questions.
Religious Certificate Documentation Change!
In a recent professional learning session, a participant asked if non-Christian religious certificates were acceptable as a form of proof of birth as the GSRP Implementation Manual states, "baptismal certificate indicating date and place of birth".
We are pleased to announce that our Recruitment/Enrollment team, in connection with MDE, has initiated state-wide change - effective immediately, GSRP providers may accept any official religious certificates that document birth date for the purposes of verifying age for enrollment in GSRP. Additionally, this change will be included in next year’s Implementation Manual. Wayne RESA is proud to lead the way in supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion across the county.
Early Math Survey
Please consider taking or sharing the Early Math survey highlighted further below in the digest. The survey only takes 15 minutes and Wayne County's voice needs to be represented!!
Please remember, if you are need of marketing materials as you begin to plan for the next school year, information is included at the bottom of the digest on how to request those items.
Wishing you well,
Sophia Lafayette-Lause, Ed.D
