Quick Summary of Town Hall Meeting on 11/6
Thank you to all those that participated in the Town Hall Meeting for Manning on Monday. Here are a couple quick updates from the event:
Principal Overview
- An overview of the new website was given
- Addition of Grade Level Lunches via Zoom starting this week (see days above)
- School Improvement Planning team of parents has a clear path of goals for the school year that include mentoring new families to the school/district, providing ongoing feedback on the development of the new website and it's content, and finding opportunities for parents to feel connected to the school and community.
- Manning has an area on the corner of Norfolk/Linden where the Village is asking to build a detention area for flooding waters. In initial conversations with the Board, this is an opportunity to re imagine that space for students and outdoor learning spaces while also providing a benefit to the Village. More info to come!
Community Questions:
- Grade Level Centers - The question about Grade Level Centers (GLCs) being temporary or permanent was asked by a parent. COVID 19 forced the elementary buildings into this model because of the spacing equity needed for a hybrid model. However, there are many conversations with regards elementary programming, finances, and space that have made GLCs an option to explore in more recent years. Our Manning SIP group will partner with the district's strategic planning committees in order to be active partner in the conversations that we can provide the optimal programming and opportunities for our students at the elementary level.
- Teacher Morale - How are teachers doing? This was an important question that was asked and meant a lot to us. Every day is challenge and there are new obstacles we face each day. I asked what are some creative ways to support our teachers and faculty. We brainstormed for awhile to think of some ideas.
