Scott's Presentation at the Board Meeting on Tuesday
Mrs. Lamothe and Mr. Altland shared about Scott's WIN (What I Need) intervention time at the board meeting on Tuesday night. Please click on the link below to watch the powerpoint that was shared.
What Has Been Happening in Mr. Dougherty's Math Classes?
Mr. Doc's math classes have covered adding, subtracting and multiplying decimals. They have also learned how to use prime factorization to find the GCF (Greatest Common Factor) and to simplify fractions. Students just finished taking a quiz on multiplying fractions and are currently dividing fractions and getting ready for our Topic 1 Test.
Students have done a great job assimilating into the Sixth Grade Center. We have continued the Spring math program, which they did in elementary school and have been using IXL to enhance our curriculum and bridge any gaps they might have.
In November and December we will be working on Integers, measures of central tendency and reading graphs.
Coatesville Athletic Leadership Council Joined PE Classes Last Wednesday
This year our Coatesville Athletic Leadership Council Senior student-athletes will be teaching the 6th grade students how to embody the leadership skills that will help build upon and foster to strengthen schools, neighborhoods and future teams with your peers. Each month they will be teaching them a different leadership characteristic. This month, the CALC student-athletes were introducing what a "Good" Leader is and what characteristics are demonstrated internally and externally as a leader.
Field Trip to Red Clay Alliance
Our Sixth Graders had the opportunity to visit Red Clay Alliance last week on a field trip. While the students were there, they completed a stream study and various team building activities. The volunteers at Red Clay were impressed with our Scott students. Our sixth graders followed our ROCKS expectations of Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness and Safety while they were there. We are so proud of them, and are looking forward to the iFly trips next month.
Golden Ticket Prize Winners for the Month of October
Congratulations to our October Golden Ticket prize winners! Last Friday, ten Golden Tickets were pulled from the box in the main office. Golden Tickets are earned when students go above and beyond our expectations of Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness and Safety. Staff give them to students when they are really impressed. The following 10 students were given the choice of a Fall craft activity or a sweet treat at lunch.
Congratulations to: Gloriana O'Neil, Julia Russ, Gulianna Cross, Mionnie Tilghman, Ninah Barrios-Burrage, Alex Reyes, Isaac Sanchez Hernandez, NJ Quattelbaum, Noah Ganesh, and Sebastian Meredith.
Keep up the great work! We are so proud of you!
October's Student of the Month- Zoe Everitt
We had numerous students nominated this month, which is a wonderful problem to have! After much debate, our winner for October's Student of the Month is...Zoe Everitt!
Zoe earned 4 golden tickets during the month of October and many teachers reached out to support Zoe's nomination. Here is what they had to say: Zoe Everitt gets my vote. She always shows up early or on time, gets started without any redirection and tries her absolute best every day. I am totally on board with Zoe Everitt! Zoe tries her best in class and works hard every day. She is a ROCKSTAR.
Congratulations, Zoe, we are so proud of you. Keep up the great work!
Employee of the Month for October- Mr. Dougherty
We want to congratulate our Employee of the Month for October, Mr. Dougherty. Mr. Dougherty has been facilitating solutions to increase accountability and participation in IXL on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He helped to set up all of the WIN teachers with IXL and Live Classroom. Mr. Dougherty is a leader among our Scott staff and a wonderful Math teacher. Congratulations, Mr. Dougherty! You are an asset to our Scott team!
We also want to congratulate our runners up: Mrs. Concordia, Mrs. Glackman, and Mr. Pearson. All three staff members were given a gift card to treat themselves at Wawa. We have an amazing team here at Scott!
iFLy Field Trips Next Week
If your child is planning to fly on our field trip please make sure to pay online and complete the waiver by 11/1/23. All students may attend the trip as long as they have turned in their permission slip. Students will participate in all parts of the trip but won't fly. All the paperwork is in our front office and available to be picked up or completed here.

Attendance
We all know how important it is to be in school. Students learn best when they are present for lessons hearing their teachers first hand and discussing information with their classmates. I want to thank our students and families for their efforts with attendance.
It is also important to be in school on time. Students are released to head to their homerooms at 7:15. Our first period starts at 7:25. If students want to eat breakfast, they need to be in school no later than 7:10. (Any students that arrive on busses that arrive after 7:10 will be given the opportunity to eat if they want).
Thank you for reminding your student of these expectations.
Please read the attached article about how to keep your middle and high school student on track with attendance.
