What people are doing to stop steroid use in sports.

In college and professional sports there are random drug screenings to catch steroid users. There are many different types of steroids, so finding them all in a drug screening might sound hard, but for the most part all of them are found.

How many types of steroids are out there?

There are 32 common types of steroids such as; Anadrol, Anadur, Anavar, AndroDerm, Androgel, etc...

How are steroids used?

They can be taken orally, injected, Transdermal(adhesive patch), or as a subcutaneous implant(Placed beneath the skin).

Punishments

Athletes that are caught using illegal enhancements are usually punished with a certain period of suspension. A player's first positive test for steroids results in an automatic 50-game suspension without pay. A second positive test results in a 100-game suspension w/o pay. A third positive test results in a lifetime ban.

What are some side effects of steroid use?

  2. Cataracts or glaucoma
  3. Easy bruising
  4. Difficulty sleeping
  5. High blood pressure
  6. Increased appetite & weight gain
  7. Increased growth of body hair
  8. Acne

How to stop steroid use in sports?

I believe that we are already doing everything that we can to stop the use of steroids in sports. When some more advanced technology is invented I'm sure that we will have many more effective ways to find all and any enhancement drugs that are being used. All in all, people could just not take steroids, which isn't going to happen, but that would be the ideal way to stop it. For the way it is, punishments need to continue to be affect for steroid users that are being caught.
