WHAT IS NOROVIRUS?
SYMPTOMS
Norovirus cause acute gastroenteritis which is an inflammation of the stomach or intestines or both. Most people get better within 1-3 days.
Most common symptoms are:
- Diarreah
- Throwing up
- Nausea
- Stomach pain
- Fever
- Headache
- Body aches
PREVENTION MEASURES & TREATMENT
Ways to prevent Norovirus:
- Practice proper hand hygiene
- Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly
- When sick do not prepare food or care for others who are sick
- Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces
- Wash laundry thoroughly
Treatment:
There is no specific medicine to treat people with norovirus illness. Norovirus infection cannot be treated with antibiotics because it is a viral infecton. If you have norovirus illness, you should drink plenty of liquids to replace fluid lost from throwing up and diarrhea. This helps prevent dehydration.
