June 20 Flex Day

All teachers and teacher assistants may work a flex schedule for the staff day on June 20, 2016. You may begin working the extra time on May 31, 2016. Teacher assistants and library assistants may not work more than forty hours in any one week. Time sheets will provide documentation (please record your time in half hour increments). Eligible employees who do not wish to make use of the flex day and do not wish to report on June 20, may choose to take personal reasons leave.

Talent-Ed

All Talent-Ed tasks must be completed before you leave on Friday! Check your Talent Ed folders- a green check by your name means you have completed all of you tasks!

LEADERSHIP ROLES

We are at the point of the year, when time seems to move at warped speed and information is coming at us from all directions! I will do my best to keep you updated.

Please let me know if you would like to return to your leadership position again next year (grade level chair, SCA, yearbook etc.) or if you would like to take on a leadership role.

STAY STRONG AND TEACH ON!!!

At Parkway we teach until the end! What does that mean? High quality instruction and learning occurs until the last day. The final days should be productive learning days for students- finish strong!

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I want your feedback! I am attaching a survey/questionnaire about how school went this year. Please take some time with answering the questions, we really will take time reading them and making adjustments this summer!

END OF THE YEAR LAPTOP TURN-IN, WINDOWS 10 TRANSITION AND SUMMER CHECK-OUT

The deadline to turn in all staff laptops, including teacher laptops, will be Friday, June 17th by 1:00 p.m. Please make sure that you have removed all personal items from the laptop, wiped down the screen, and keyboard, and have all the components (mouse, bag, etc.) to turn it. As of right now, we are waiting to see when the Windows 10 transition is set to begin. This may affect summer laptop check-out and laptop use during the summer. If you have a PLP class, and need your laptop over the summer, please make sure that you notify me. DO NOT WAIT until the last minute! Summer is the time for cleaning, slicking, and updating. Once we get word that computers can be moved to Windows 10, the goal is to move laptops and desktops to Windows 10 as time allows and with as little disruption as possible.

END OF THE YEAR TECHNOLOGY

I will place a technology inventory in your mailbox for you to complete. This inventory is simply a list of the technology that is present in your classroom. This is a similar form to what you completed last year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

SELF SERVICE PASSWORD RESET

The Department of Technology has just created the following tutorial for resetting your own password and unlocking your own account. I highly encourage you to set this up now so that you can retrieve your password and/or unlock your account if necessary over the summer.

Kudos

Shout-out to all the teachers and specialists who helped motivate our 3rd graders on their first ever SOL tests! Your individual letters, class cards, treats, and words of encouragement really meant a lot to 3rd grade!

Shout-out to Melissa Smith, Lisa Mungin, and Reneka Evans for rockin’ out with our ‘Reading Bootcamp’ on Wednesday!

Shout-out to Jeff Adkins and Amanda Rivera for taking our kiddos on Wednesday while we remediated all day!

SELFIE STICK HAND-OFF

I would like to thank the office staff for the humbling Selfie stick award. Seeing all the smiles in the office everyday makes coming to work a joy! I would like to pass the Selfie Stick on to the fantastic 3rd grade team which includes Mrs. Massenburg. They have laughed, cried, worried and stressed all year to make all of their students successful and ready for 4th grade. I have enjoyed working with the 3rd grade team this year. The 3rd grade team are like paper and glue. They STICK TOGETHER!! Love Mrs. Mills

Just for Fun

David Letterman’s Top Ten Reasons for Becoming a Teacher

10. Hoping to live up to the teachers who inspired me….like Mrs. What’s Her Name

9. It’s no fun to say the Pledge of Allegiance every day by myself.

8. Honestly, I didn’t pay that much attention the first time through school.

7. Kids need to know the moon landing was faked.

6. If I could make a difference in just one kid’s life…well, that wouldn’t be a very good average.

5. The glamour.

4. You work long hours, but at least the pay is bad.

3. Hoping to teach in an all song and dance school like in “Glee.”

2. In the summer I can watch all of you losers go to the office.

1. I want to help kids talk good.
