Parent Tip for September
How to teach our Children to be a Good Friend
Kids model their parents – and learn from their verbal and non-verbal communication. It’s your job to teach your child how to react to situations and how to treat others. Here are seven tips to help!
- Don't criticize, condemn or complain.
- Be a good listener and encourage others to talk about themselves.
- Make others feel important and do it sincerely.
- Know when you use suggestions and do not give direct orders.
- Be friendly and don’t meet aggression with aggression. Be assertive, not aggressive.
- Praise other’s achievements.
- Be empathetic towards others.
Encourage your child to be social. First friends can last a lifetime!
Get a head start on your future
Xello is an engaging, online program that helps students transform their aspirations into personalized, actionable plans for academic, college & career success.
Kindergarten - 2nd grade students will visit Career Town to learn about various careers within a specific entity.
Our 3rd thru 5th grade students will dig deeper into various careers by completing missions. These missions have lessons which will allow them to understand that their talents and skills which will guide them to a specific future career.
Be Kind: Be Aware
The theme for the Be Kind Grand Prairie ISD campaign for the month of September is Be Kind: Be Aware!
For our Start With Hello campaign, it is important to be aware when a student needs a friend. Look around, reach out to that person, and make a friend. Students should be aware of when someone feels alone and just wants a friendly smile. So Be Kind and Be Aware!
