The Miller Minute

#daretobe our personal best to inspire excellence!

Week 15 - December 3

Last Week at Miller

Genius Hour

Genius Hour is amazing. Our kids get to do some really awesome things! This round, our learners are participating in a basketball clinic (led by MHS Coach and Players), a Cake Decorating Club (Be sure to check out the Gingerbread houses in the display case!), and crocheting along with all of the other amazing clubs! We will have 4 more rounds of Genius Hour sessions, and we would love to have you! Let us know how you can help! See below for more details.

All-City Choir

The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear! That is just what our All-City Choir did on Friday night! They were AMAZING!

Inch and Miles

At LME, we #daretobe our personal best as we learn more about the pyramid of success!

Our 1st grade team will introduce the word "cooperation" to our learners, and we will recognize 6 Miller All-Stars for displaying "loyalty" at this week's Miller Rally!

Holiday Shoppe

The Holiday Shoppe schedule is below. Students will not be allowed to make purchases on Monday or Tuesday as these are whole class preview days only. Purchases can be made on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (during their class or grade level shopping time).

Additional Information

Genius Hour

Would you like to share your genius with us? We would LOVE to have you! Ideas that we have include: yoga instructors, culinary experts, cake decorators, entrepreneurs, wood workers, crocheting, etc. The sky is the limit. What would volunteering entail? Volunteers would need to commit to serving our learners for 3 weeks (one hour each week - Fridays from 7:55 - 8:55 am). We like for these clubs to be interactive, so a project for our learners to complete would be ideal. You can sign up for one Genius Hour Cycle or all of them! Contact shannon_west@misd.gs to volunteer or for more information.

FAQ:

- Will I have help? Yes! At least one staff member will assist you.

- How many students will be in my club? It depends on the club. Our clubs have between 20 - 30 learners.

- Do I need to supply my own materials? Let us know what you need. We can help!

Our next Genius Hour Session Cycle starts after break! Special thanks to Keena Ortiz (crafts), Kori Wilson (cake decorating), Mrs. Elliott's Mother-in-Law (crocheting), and the MHS Basketball Players (Basketball Clinic) for volunteering to lead a club this session cycle. Also, thank you for donating the soap dispensers for our next craft project! We appreciate you!
