these are some of the best players.

Italy is one of the greatest football nations, with four World Cups won including the last one (albeit won in questionnable fashion and not really the best team). Some legendary strikers like Luigi Riva or Alessandro del Piero should make their way to the top of the ranking but one should not forget that the Squadra Azzura is especially famous for its defenders (like Paolo Maldini who played 126 times for the national team) or its goalkeepers like Dino Zoff or Gianluigi Buffon. All candidates below have played at least 40 times or scored 15 goals for Italy.

About the stadium

The Italy national football team doesn't usually play at a specific stadium in their home games. They play at several stadiums including the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, more commonly called San Siro and the Stadio Olimpico. The San Siro is the home stadium of two of the biggest clubs in Italy AC Milan and F.C. Internazionale Milano while the Stadio Olimpico is the home stadium of Lazio and Roma.
