Step It Up School-wide Donation Drive - FINAL DAYS THROUGH 10/4
Hello Parents and Families!
Thank you for your active participation in our Step It UP! program, which will help with funding Student and Teacher Resources, Student and Staff Recognition. In addition to: New technology, curriculum enhancements, and innovative learning materials.
Students who earn $50 or more in donations will be able to attend the Day of Awesomeness on October 11th which will include bouncies, games, prizes, and free Kona Ice! Student lists will be posted on the cafeteria and media center windows. We had over 320 students who met the Day of Awesomeness pledge amount! Teachers will also have a list of those who can attend. Students will have wristbands. The event is from 8:30AM-10:30AM at the middle school track/field. Students should wear socks and bring an extra pair to change into due to wet grass. Only students with sock on can get on the bouncies. Also, we are encouraging everyone to bring a water bottle. Kona Ice will be provided complimentary.
Thank you again for supporting RRMS!

PARENT BILLS OF RIGHTS - CONSENT FORMS in MYSTUDENT - Please complete ASAP!
PARENTS - We want to highly encourage you to READ CAREFULLY all of the items in the Parent Bill of Rights Consent. During conversations, we are realizing a number of parents were not fully aware of what they were signing when they did so.
While parents have full rights to opt out/in of all items - and we realize how many words they have used - it is important to make informed decisions.
One example is the MEDIA RELEASE. Several parents opted out without realizing the last line of a lengthy page listed the fact that any student opting out will not be recognized if they play sports, or achieve any academic success, and will not be in the yearbook, among other restrictions. Again - if this opt out was done fully informed we absolutely respect that, but when the full details have been pointed out parents did reconsider.
Leaving the consent form blank is a NO for CLINIC SERVICES. If you would like your student to utilize the clinic if they are sick, or get hurt please consent to yes to illness care treatment and RN assessment. If you mark NO or DON'T FILL OUT THE FORMS your child can't be seen in the clinic. Your child will be asked to call you to inform you of the situation. If you do not have internet access at home or a computer, you may come to the school to fill out the consent forms online.
If you have questions about ANY item please do not hesitate to reach out to our administration so that we can clarify the options as much as possible as it is new procedure for everyone.
Healthy Student
Please fill out the 22-23 healthy student application if you would like your student to be a part of the program. Healthy student is a great way to keep students in school. Healthy student includes management of acute illness or injury and the administration of limited medications, following physician guidelines and protocols (i.e. ibuprofen, Tylenol, Motrin, Robitussin, Tums, and antifungal ointment, Benadryl, hydrocortisone, etc.).
Please fill out the attached form and return it to the clinic or email to ljanssen@pasco.k12.fl.us if interested. We CAN NOT take any verbal consents for medication administration so not filling out the form means a call home if your child isn't well with a potential need for pick up.

Notification of Screening through USF College Education Partnership with RRMS
Dear Parent or Guardian,
River Ridge Middle School is partnering with the USF College of Education to support our students. Specifically, we will be examining how multiple sources of information can help improve the accuracy and effectiveness of universal screening for our students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs. We are committed to providing the supports students need to flourish, both in the classroom and throughout their lives.
To do so, we will be using the SAEBRS universal screening tool through the FastBridge online system. This tool includes 19 items, is typically completed within one minute, and asks how often certain behaviors are displayed during the previous month (e.g., Cooperation with Peers, Distractedness, Positive Attitude).
For each student, two educators will be completing the SAEBRS. In addition, all students will be asked to complete the tool on a computer during the student’s scheduled Knight Time. This tool typically takes students less than 60 seconds to complete, and they will not miss any instruction time. If your child at any time does not want to participate, they will have the ability to do so. At the end of each school year, River Ridge Middle School may provide de-identified data to our USF partners. The de-identified data may include demographic data, attendance, academic performance data, behavioral data (i.e., suspensions, expulsions, office discipline referrals), and referrals for special education. The data collected may help us better understand how to use multiple sources of data to support student needs.
If you would like any additional information, please contact your child’s grade level counselor. If you do not want your child to participate, complete the bottom of the form at the link below and return to the front office by Monday, October 24, 2022. Your child's participation is completely voluntary.
Sincerely,
Angie Murphy
Principal
