Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year
I would like to start by saying thank you to all the parents, guardians, and students for making the start to the 2022-2023 school year great. In order to make this school year the best it can be it will take all of us working together to accomplish our goals. Tuscumbia City Schools has set a goal to make an “A” on the state report card. In order to do this we must continue to grow academically and reduce absenteeism. As a faculty, we have put in place a few measures to target our academic growth. We ask that you discuss with your child the importance of putting forth the effort required to accomplish the results we desire. We also ask that you make attendance a priority for your child. When a student is absent from school, they can never truly get back that time they missed in the classroom. Please try to have your child at school each and every day.
I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we have made a few changes to our pick-up and drop off procedures. Our main priority is for your child to return home to you safely and hopefully smarter than when they arrived. These new procedures are in place to provide the best supervision and safety for your child.
Please review the student handbook with your child. As a staff, we are emphasizing the no cell phone policy. Students must have their phone turned off and put away upon entering the building. Their phones must stay in their lockers during the school day. Please be aware of the student dress code located in the handbook. We ask that students only bring water to drink and that it is in a clear bottle with a screw on cap.
The start of the school year is always an exciting time, and I look forward to seeing many of you at the many events that will take place over the next few weeks. It is truly an honor to be a part of “the greatest little middle school in America.”
