About the Fennec Fox
The Fennec Fox is a fox, therefore, it is related to all other foxes, the wolf, and certain breeds of dogs . Fennecs live in Northern Africa in the deserts of the Sahara. They deal with the intense heat of their environment through their thick fur and nocturnal ways. The fennecs ears are massive compared to their tiny heads. This is because their ears are for regulating body heat. The Fennec Fox is an omnivore and its main diet is insects, fruits, rodents, and eggs. The color of their fur helps them blend in. They are a playful species a and often make loud, silly noises. Fennec foxes are small but they move extremely fast. In adulthood, they can jump up to 1 meter standing still! This trait helps fennecs capture prey. These foxes live with about 10 other fennecs in groups called packs. The males mark their territory with urine and are very protective during the mating season.
