Locker Pickup

Next week we will be conducting our locker pick up for students and book check-in. Please read the information below for details. All items in lockers (regular and PE) have been put in bags with students’ names on them for distribution.

  • 6th/7th/8th - You may return any novels from the library that you are finished with for the rest of the school year, athletic uniforms and pick up locker items. There will be another day later on to turn in additional items still in use.

Please choose the date and time that work best for your family. Be prepared to wait if there are a lot of people there at once. Staff will work quickly while prioritizing safety and physical distance over speed.

5/18 Monday – 8:30-10:30

5/19 Tuesday – 11:30-1:30

5/20 Wednesday – 8:30-10:30

***All parents and students will stay in their cars during the pickup and drop off. Please pull into the parking lot and line up. Please make a sign with your child’s first and last name to have in the back seat driver side window. Staff will read the name and ask you to pull forward to have the items brought to your car. Gym Locker items will be returned with regular locker items.

If you cannot attend on one of the designated days, the make up day will be June 4th.

  • 6th/7th grade - Keep your Chromebook and charger and textbooks over the summer.

  • 8th grade - Return all textbooks, library books and your Chromebook and charger on June 4th.

  • Any 6th/7th student not returning to LMS for next year will return textbooks, Chromebook and charger on June 4th.

Info for Incoming 6th Graders & their Parents

This is the time of year we'd usually give our incoming 6th graders a tour of the school. While we can't do that right now, we're thinking a lot about our incoming class and can't wait to get to know you. Please show your incoming sixth grader this video sneak peak of middle school life below. Watch this space in the weeks to come for more info for incoming 6th grade parents and students.

Parent Club

LMS Parent Club is here for you!

Greetings from over the fence! We are thinking of you all and missing seeing your faces at school and in the parking lot. This is a really difficult time for all of us and everyone is experiencing this pandemic in their own way. We want to let you know that your parent club is here for you and wants to offer support and help. Please reach out and connect if you want to talk or be connected to resources in the community. Lets replace the term the term "social distancing" with "physical distancing"

Volunteer Thank You

At this week's Volunteer Tea we thanked our volunteers from Parent Club for their many hours of service this year and all the contributions they make to our school community. If you missed the tea, you missed these video messages from our staff. Please take a moment to hear how much we appreciate all the work our volunteers do.

Routine and Repeated Reminders

Credit for High School Courses Completed Before Ninth Grade

For students taking high school-level classes in middle school, please submit this form to Ms. Kahler before June 5 if you want the student's credit NOT to count on their high school transcript.

ParentVue Verification

Beginning May 1, LOSD needs parents/guardians of all students enrolled for the 2020-21 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
    • Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.

    • Allowing parents to review the health conditions on file at your student's school.

    • Enabling distribution of electronic devices covered by the district's Technology Agreement

If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, go to the login page, click "I am a Parent," then click "Forgot Password." If you are unsure whether you have a ParentVUE account, contact your student's school. For assistance with the verification process, refer to the user guide on the LOSD website or contact your student's school. Please note that verification is not part of the ParentVUE mobile app. However, a button in the app allows you to open verification in a web browser, or you can log into ParentVUE on a computer.

Updates to ParentVue/StudentVue Grades

It is hard to believe we are almost in May! I appreciate the feedback we have been receiving, and we are working hard to make adjustments with our process to serve our students best.

This week you will begin to see in Synergy a report showing whether your child participated in classes each week. Each Monday evening, we will update Synergy, and if your child has a P, then they were engaged in our work from the previous week. If they have a blank, then they did not participate in that class for the whole week. In cases where we have no engagement, we will be reaching out to you and your child to determine what supports are needed to re-engage. Overall course grades will display as N/A because we want students to focus on staying engaged and connected without stressing about overall grades. At the end of year, students who have been engaged will receive "P" grades consistent with guidance from the Oregon Department of Education.

It is an excellent practice to always check the school-wide planner for assignments and to refer to Google Classrooms for specific assignments.

Volunteers Needed

We are seeking interested judges for our 8th grade TAG Capstone projects. If you are interested and can commit to reviewing and providing guided feedback on 3 or more 5 minute YouTube presentations from your home between May 15-22nd, please click here to submit your name to Cheri Davidson. You will receive an email with more details and a link to the projects and feedback form by May 15th. Thank you for considering!

Food Services

LOSD free meal service for all students in need started April 1. Grab and go meals can be picked up at any one of these schools every Mon. and Wed., between 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Lake Oswego High School, Lake Grove Elementary School, Lakeridge Middle School, Lakeridge High School.
