Celebrate with the Alphabet
A special Kindergarten tradition of counting down the final 26 days of school using the alphabet will be a school-wide activity this year! The link below describes the activity for each day based on one or two letters in the alphabet. This will start Monday for our last 19 days of school!

Bitmoji Project
Can you guess which Bitmoji matches each listed KCS staff member? Look at the Bitmoji picture and write down your guesses. There is a list of staff members involved below to help you! Answers will be emailed and posted on Facebook on June 1!

Mileage Mayhem:
Students and families are welcome to record how many miles they either walk, hike or run on the attached google form. We will add up all the miles to see how far we can travel. Can we travel all the way across the state of Connecticut? How much of the Appalachian Trail can we walk? Where would you like to travel? Share with me a destination and let's see if we can get there!
Each time you have mileage that can contribute to our goal, please fill out the google form. Families with multiple children, you can have each child fill out the form. For example, if you have a child in 1st and 3rd grade, and they both walk two miles, both children can record their miles on the form as separate entries.

Eighth Grade Graduation
Graduation will be held on Friday, June 12 at 6:00 p.m. (Rain Date: Thursday, June 11) If you are not part of the attendees, please join us on Facebook Live on the Kent Center School Facebook page.
Important Information to Know...
You will receive more information at the beginning of June about picking up student materials and dropping off KCS materials. This will happen during the week of June 8.
Summer Reading:
This year, we will be hosting two summer reading programs. One program will be Region-wide, all of the students in each K-8 school will be reading a version of "Hidden Figures." Students will receive their books and information packets during our pick-up/drop-off time in June.
Our second summer reading program will be the Governor's Summer Reading Challenge. More information to follow from Miss Morrow.
Important Dates:
- June 4: PowerSchool Parent Portal Closes
- June 8 - June 12: 12:00 dismissal days - Teacher Professional Learning
- June 12: Last Day of School for students
- June 12: Report Cards sent home
Class Placement 2020-2021
Class assignments will be mailed to all students during the summer vacation in August. Homeroom teachers will NOT be printed on the final report card. Because teachers spend a considerable amount of time discussing the make-up of each class, it is necessary that new students or the departure of students over the summer are considered before the homeroom assignments are finalized. We appreciate your understanding of this important process and the necessary time it takes for this process to be completed.
Important Note: If your child will NOT be attending Kent Center School next year, please email Ms. Robb (robbm@kentcenter.com) as soon as possible. This impacts our planning for next year, and she can provide you with information about the process of getting records to a new school.
From the Health Office
We are living in unprecedented times and the need for support can grow greater each and every day. There are many resources available to you both at the local level and in the greater community that can help you and your family handle the stresses we are experiencing. Attached are just a few of the resources I have found to help you as a parent to take care of yourself, for in order to take care of your family, you as the caregiver must take care of yourself first.
The most up to date information continue to be found on the following websites.
CDC- Centers for Disease Control https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/index.html
CT Department of Public Health https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus
The community hotline set up through Nuvance Health and our local hospitals. That number is (866) 667-9262. The link to more information is: https://patients.healthquest.org/novel-coronavirus-covid-19-update-2/
Stay home, stay safe, wash those hands, and keep your unwashed hands away from your face. When out in public places keep your 6 feet distance from others and wear face masks when that 6-foot distance is not possible.
Please know you can always reach out to me by email at levesqueb@kentcenter.com if you need help in finding answers to your concerns.
