Weekly Update for 11-1-19
Joan MacQueen Middle School
Principal Message
Dear JMMS Families,
What a great week to be a Dust Devil. Kudos to ASB and all the students who organized and participated in the Red Ribbon activities (see below) throughout the week. We would also like to thank Mrs. Smith whose vision and leadership made the week happen.
We did have a four-legged visitor to campus on Thursday. In order to provide a safe school, AUSD contracts with InterQuest K9 services, a comprehensive detection, and deterrence program used to identify the presence of drugs, alcoholic beverages, abused medications and weapons on campus. I am happy to announce that none of these items were found at school. In order to provide a safe learning environment, InterQuest will continue these unannounced visits through the end of the year.
Tuesday, we are hosting a Principal's Coffee at 8:30 am in the Welcome Center (Administration Building). Topics will include the CPM mathematics curriculum and progress on school goals. Attendees are welcome to bring any topics that they would like to discuss. If the question will require research or you can't attend please email your question. A summary of the meeting will be in next week's update.
Next Friday, we are also proud to have a member of the San Diego District Attorney's Office on campus. The assembly will cover a variety of topics including vaping, bullying, cyber safety, and sexting. Parents are invited to attend the presentation which will begin at 1:30 pm. Students will attend an assembly schedule that day.
