Lenin's New Economic Policy
The NEP
Lenin’s new economic policy, the NEP, is a Modified version of the old capitalist system to abandon war communism. Lenin and other communists intended it to be temporary. Retail stores and small industries can be privately owned and peasants can sell their produce openly; although, heavy industry, banking, and mines are still under government control. The policy will save the Soviet Union from economic disaster.
People started to stash food for themselves because of the new way Lenin’s plan started to work. When the war was over there was a huge drought which caused many people to die since farmers were not giving the community food and with no water made it hard for people to live. They ended up creating a union called the USSR. With a bigger market and a more focused agricultural system they were able to end their famine
