RMS Wildcat Weekly
May 29th, 2020 Information for our Families
Happy Friday!
Greetings Wildcat Families,
The last few weeks have gone quickly, and we now have only three days left this school year. I am constantly reminded of the collaborative and supportive community we have here at Roosevelt, and I greatly appreciate all that our students, staff, and families have been doing to help each other through virtual school. I want to thank those of you who have attended community forums and who have responded to requests for feedback to help us as we are designing our plans for the fall. Your voice is valued and needed, and the suggestions, comments, and questions have been incredibly helpful. I hope you all received the VUSD MIDDLE SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING survey. We have received close to 200 responses so far and are looking forward to more. Please add your important feedback!
8th Grade Promotion is right around the corner! We are looking forward to celebrating our awesome 8th graders with a livestream of the promotion ceremony on June 2 @ 6 pm. We will share the link for the livestream on our website, in the 8th Grade Hub on Google Classroom, and via email. We will also make the link to the video recording available for you to watch at your convenience on June 3 @ 10 am. Please see the details below! We are so proud of our 8th grade students for their fortitude and persistence, and we are eager to celebrate their accomplishments.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Heather Golly

Yearbook
A Message from RMS Yearbook:
Yearbooks are still on sale! Purchase your yearbook through www.jostens.com for $50 before they sell out. There are less than 70 copies left! Yearbooks will not be distributed next week, but rest assured, you will get a copy as soon as we develop a safe and effective system for delivery. We are also excited to announce that the RMS yearbook signing tradition is alive and it’s fully digital to suit our socially distanced students. Jostens has just launched a new platform, Yearbook Digital Signing Pages, that gives every student in our school the chance to create a virtual signing page section for their yearbook. Details for this amazing feature will follow soon! Thank you for supporting our yearbook staff!
If you have any questions/concerns, please contact the Yearbook Advisor Mr. Daniel Guerzon at DanielGuerzon@vistausd.org.

NEW: PTA Recruiting Letter 05/29/2020
The PTA is proud to sponsor promotion t-shirt gifts for every 8th grader, to acknowledge their accomplishments and celebrate that they are promoting out of Middle School and into High School. We recognize the sadness of not being able to celebrate in person and hope this small memento might make this feel a little bit more special. Congratulations to all of our 8th graders!

Grading Update:
During Roosevelt Virtual School, teachers will continue to provide feedback on student performance and mastery of content and skills. Grades will be recorded as they were during the regular school year as a means of providing feedback to parents and students. At the end of the semester, teachers will take into consideration all work completed in the second semester from January to June, as well as each student’s individual circumstances, to determine whether credit or no credit has been earned. Teachers would have emailed you by May 15th to notify you if your student is in danger of receiving a "no credit" grade.
