Eagle News - June 3, 2020
This Week at Utsalady
Dear Utsalady Families and Students,
June has arrived and I cannot believe the end of our school year is near! This has been a very different school year than we imagined. There are still many unknowns about what fall looks like. Even so, it's important to reflect on all we've accomplished.
This year, incredible learning has taken place. We've had field trips, assemblies, Soaring Eagle celebrations, crazy hat days, Eagle Enrichment clubs, a Jog-A-Thon, Science and Art Fair, and so much more. We take pride what we've accomplished. Even with remote learning and the challenge of switching formats mid-year, we've worked hard to enjoy every moment.
I want to take this opportunity to wish our amazing Fifth Graders a special goodbye! Next year, you will all move on to middle school where you will continue to do fantastic things. Work hard, learn a lot, and make sure to come back and visit. Remember, once an Eagle always and Eagle. Have a wonderful middle school experience. Make it the best!
We certainly cannot end our school year without sharing a huge "Thank You" to all of our WATCH DOGS, Booster Club members, community members, and classroom volunteers. Our volunteers are terrific people! Each and every one of you does so much for our school. Your work is appreciated, your energy is unbelievable, and your care and support mean so much to us. Thank you for your continued support of our programs, our students, and the work we do!
To all of our families and students a big thank you for welcoming me into this special community we call Utsalady. Your emails, questions, positive words of encouragement, supportive conversations, and partnership has made all the difference to me. I am grateful to have such a supportive community to work with.
Have a great week,

Opportunity Knocks - Multiage Classroom 4/5
Utsalady is on target to have a multiage classroom. Though we don't know what the fall will hold, we are planning for a 4/5 class. This is a special classroom situation with many benefits. This class has 2 teachers to support the grade specific content. Much of the day students are together as a team, and at other times they are in small groups. Miss Fisher who is currently teaching 4th grade will be one of the teachers leading this class. There are a limited number spaces for each grade level. If you would like to provide input, please complete the form. If you have any questions feel free to email us at uesinfo@stanwood.wednet.edu.

Grading K-5
Students in grades K–5 are being asked to demonstrate effort and success in learning standards through remote learning. Unless an agreement has been reached between parent/guardian and school staff, students will be promoted to the next grade level. Elementary progress reports will reflect concepts introduced and practiced through remote learning. Standards introduced through remote learning will be noted as “introduced but not assessed” on the progress report.
Grab and Go Meals
Grab and Go meals are available to ALL children ages 18 and under, free of charge, regardless of income, whether your child is enrolled in school or if they attend Stanwood Camano Schools. We encourage families to take advantage of this program, please help spread the word.
Reminder: Now on Fridays, we offer weekend grab and go meals in addition to our regular meal distribution, children will receive bags that contain 3 lunches and 3 breakfasts.
For a list of locations, please see the district website.
5th Graders and Middle School Registration
Please take a minute to review the information for middle school. Stanwood Middle and Port Susan Middle have put together a communication regarding electives and registration for 6th grade elective courses.
