Armchair One-Time Donation Fundraiser - Easy, effortless and rewarding
- Middle school is a busy time and we have a perfect way for you to donate to the GHMS PTA without leaving the comfort of your favorite armchair.
- What do you need to do? Donate online or send in a check - it's that easy! Plus, 100% of the funds raised through this fundraiser go to GHMS PTA. Other family members, friends, neighbors, and businesses can also support your student with a contributing or matching donation.
- Here are just a few of the things that the PTA has been able to fund over the years - IXL, robots for technology, books, curriculum enhancements for each grade level, theater backdrop and props, 8th grade dance decor and 8th grade promotion party/gift and so much more!
- Donations are accepted online at http://www.ghmspta.org or if you would rather send in a check, you can click on the image below, to print out a donation form and send a check in to your student's homeroom teacher.
- The recommended donation is $75 per family and 100% of your funds go to our PTA and are 100% tax deductible. We love donations in any amount so please donate what you can. Your generosity is very much appreciated!
- Please know that if we do not raise enough funds from this one-time donation, we will need to hold another fundraiser later in the year. We are not even half way to our goal of $15,000 so please consider donating.

Nurse's News - Allergy Awareness
Our School Nurse: Mrs. Staci Hyde hydes@fortmillschools.org 803-548-8313
In Fort Mill Schools, a priority is providing a safe environment for all students. As you may be aware, food allergies are becoming increasingly common among students in the District and throughout our nation. While some allergic reactions are mild, many students have severe food allergies and experience life-threatening reactions when exposed to their allergens. In some cases, this reaction can occur simply through contact or airborne exposure even when the allergen is not ingested.
Health and safety has always been a top priority for us, especially when working with students who have a life threatening medical condition. We appreciate your support of the following safeguards to limit their exposure to these risky foods:
- We encourage all students to wash hands with soap and water before and after eating. Hand sanitizers and water alone do not fully remove allergens.
- We remind students not to share food with others.
- When preparing your child’s lunches and snacks, please check food labels and consider sending alternative food items to reduce exposure to the allergens listed above. For instance, there are several alternative butters that can be used in place of peanut butter (e.g., Sunbutter, which is made from sunflower seeds).
- Per District policy, all food items brought to school for group consumption by students must be commercially prepared (store bought) and have labels declaring the ingredients. If you need help identifying treats that would be safe for all of the students who will be partaking in the celebration, please let me know.
- For celebrations, please consider non-food alternatives. This is a good idea not just because of food allergies, but also due to the growing issue of childhood obesity.
We appreciate your awareness, understanding and cooperation in working toward keeping our students safe. Please check with your child’s teacher about specific classroom concerns.
You Be the Chemist
The You Be the Chemist school level challenge will be held on Wednesday, 10/30/19, in the cafeteria during FLEX. The competition is different this year. Instead of competing individually, students will be in teams of 4. Please have your student see Mrs. Taylor if interested. Below are links to the website with study materials.
