Letter to Parents for 2015-16
Changes in our grading system
We have implemented changes to our grading system in US History for the 2013-2014 school year. These changes are to ensure that our students are meeting rigorous state and national standards and achieving college and career readiness benchmarks. Your student will be tested on six key skills/standards as well as content knowledge of United States History. The percentage breakdown will be as follows:
- Formative work (classwork, quizzes etc.) which demonstrate the following skills will be 10% each.
A. Primary Sources (written and oral)
B. Analyzing and Interpreting charts, graphs and maps
C. Interpreting political cartoons
D. Identifying cause and effect relationships
E. Analyzing historical events in multiple perspectives
F. Matching foreign and domestic events to presidents’ terms of office
2. Your student’s reflective grades (class participation, note taking, homework, etc.) will equal 20%
3. Proficiency grades (end of unit exams) will be the remaining 20%
