Mrs. Ross' Class

Week 23: February 15-19

Reading: This week we began our nonfiction unit. We distinguished the differences between fiction and nonfiction. We focused on the photographs, a table of contents, and the different ways you can read a nonfiction book. Next week we will learn about the captions, labels, diagrams, and section headings.

Writing: Next week we will continue to work on our how to stories by adding introductions and conclusions. We will also begin to write "series" about the same topic. We will think about things we learn throughout the day.

Math: This week we wrapped up our counting to 100 unit and began learning about coins. Next week we will learn more about the penny, nickel, dime and quarter. We will compare and contrast each.

Word Work: We will learn about digraphs (2 letters that make 1 sound): ch, sh, th, wh, ph
