Word From The Woods

Bishop Woods Newsletter 4.25.22

Hello Bishop Woods Family!

Good Evening Bishop Woods Families. This is Ms. Crisci with some updates:

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and safe April break, along with a joyous Easter, Passover and Ramadan holiday for those families who celebrate!

When we return to school tomorrow there are only 8 weeks of instruction left! The official last day for this school year is Wednesday, June 22. Parents...please discuss the importance of finishing the school year strong with your child. There are many exciting year end events planned, and all students that demonstrate positive behaviors will be allowed to participate.

Parents, we are continuing our State testing. Remind your children to charge their Chromebook each night so they will be ready in the morning. Please talk to your children about using their cell phones especially during testing. Using phones during testing may be considered a breach, not only for our school but for the district. We are asking all students to hand in their phone during this time, or to ensure that their phones are completely turned off. Students will get their phones back when testing is completed.

Attendance Matters so we have a challenge for you. Attend school every day with NO TARDIES from April 4th to May 13th and you will be rewarded with an ice cream sundae party. Below is the link to the flier.

The weather is getting warmer and although we are not strictly enforcing the uniform policy this year, we still have a dress code. Below, I have included the language for the dress code from our handbook, and violations will be addressed, and parents will be called to bring a change of clothes, especially if students violate no torn or ripped pants, no belly shirts, no short shorts, no pajamas or hoods on heads. Also please be sure that your child does not come to school with flip flops or open toed shoes, as they are dangerous at recess time.

Dress Down Days Dress Code (from Handbook)

  • NO shirts or pants with any in appropriate writing or pictures

  • NO baggy pants hanging below the waist

  • NO ripped or torn pants or jeans

  • NO revealing tank tops (spaghetti straps), NO belly shirts, NO short shorts, NO muscle shirts

  • NO hats, caps, do-rags, bandanas or coats worn (during the day)

  • NO heavy jewelry or markings that may be identified as gang related

  • NO flip flops, open toe shoes, or shoes that may be a safety haza

Community Meeting!

Did you know...

Community meeting takes place every two weeks and is run by students! It includes a news segment, a slideshow of classroom buddies in action, presentations and announcements, and a "Minute To Win It" challenge! And it is all live streamed to classrooms! So fun!

Classroom Buddies!!

Did you know every student at Bishop Woods has a buddy? The students are able to experience community building activities with a partner buddy each month! This gives the older students an opportunity to mentor and practice leadership skills as they work with their younger schoolmates. The younger students get the benefit of learning from the upperclassman and see positive role models right in their own school! Thank you to the Culture & Climate Team (and especially Mrs. Daly) for organizing!

Ms. Hampton's kindergarten class and Ms. Harrison's 4th grade class!
